Unforgettable was on no one's list as one of the "buzzier" fall pilots, but that doesn't mean it's not one of the better ones. It is.
-
Unforgettable is a quirky, captivating take on the police procedurals that have been a staple of the CBS schedule over the past decade.
-
Montgomery's last gig on CBS, "Without a Trace," lasted seven years. Unforgettable has a ways to go, but it's got a lot of the right stuff.
-
Lots of good, crime-solving fun.
-
It's not a great series, but it looks to be a solidly commercial one.
-
It may turn into one of those crime shows that are competent enough but, well, forgettable, despite Ms. Montgomery's charms.
-
As usual, it's all a roundabout way to create a cop dynamic with the mildest of twists--what plays like a polished procedural, with a bit more character--as well as built-in romantic tension between the leads.
-
The intense stares at nothing in particular, uncanny case-solving ability, and haunting past where a loved one was killed are unapologetically lifted from well-worn pages in the TV-procedural playbook. The overall effect is just not that memorable.
-
Her mind has repressed the clues [to her sister's murder]. Clever paradox, but as a result the show is an unsatisfying mix of razor-sharp thinking and befogged gloom. [10 Oct 2011, p.44]
-
It may be just ordinary enough to work.
-
It's a fairly standard crime procedural whose hook doesn't really add much--and actually seems like it could be an obstacle further down the road.
-
Although hyperthymesia is a gimmick, it works.
-
The actual version of Unforgettable is so plodding and serious.
-
Wells' seemingly infallible memory takes some fun out of the guesswork and doesn't add enough spice to what's ultimately just another helping of TV comfort food.
-
Unforgettable is completely forgettable because it brings nothing new to the increasingly creaky crime procedural. CBS has gone to that well over and over, and, credit to them, it's worked.
-
You'll vaguely remember several shows that went pretty much like this one.
-
No, not hooked on this generic-looking crime-solver. The premise is nonsensical.
-
It's a new kind of plodding--so slow, you are almost begging her to stay retired so you don't have to witness her gifts in action again.
-
Unfortunately, if you name a show Unforgettable you really need to deliver, and the pilot just doesn't.
-
Unforgettable is a show cobbled together from the once good bits of once good shows.
