Feb 23, 2018The first season demonstrated comedy that blended with satire of race and socioeconomic status. This mix worked fairly well, albeit with some overt discrimination. Unfortunately, the 2nd season exploits discrimination, and lacks the same wit and humor that was so natural in its predecessor.

Mar 31, 2022Delightful improvement that gets even better the longer it stays. Ellie Kemper is so blissfully perfect as Kimmy, and Titus is funnier than ever. Although I thought Jane Krakowski's character was too close to 30 Rock's Jenna in season one, her character actually grows this season and is not so one note. And Tina Fey's (and her staff of writers) rat-a-tat dialogue is brilliant.

Kimmy gets a little smarter, too, and finds relations outside that circle of new life that embraced her last year.

Season two of the show is more enjoyable than season one because, for long stretches, it barely remembers what it's about, plot-wise, and enters that trancelike comedy zone where some of the best sketch comedy resides--a place of one-damn-thing-after-another inventiveness.

In season two, much of the same goofiness that killed you in season one is back.
