The premise is a neat riff on immigration and fitting in, but the jokes are a bit conventional for a show that looks so pleasantly odd.
-
But if Ugly Americans comes with a message, it is at least equally determined to just be funny, and at that task, it frequently succeeds.
-
Unlike a raft of recent adult-themed cartoons, Ugly Americans offers surprising laughs with its premise, and it is profanely whip-smart in a way that recalls the network's much-missed "Drawn Together" series.
-
Ugly Americans can be gross and bizarre, but everything makes sense in the world that it has created.
-
The show is full of nonsequiturs, and the writing doesn't always measure up to the look....Still, stick with the show and there are elements so bizarre as to be difficult to resist.
-
The show's dry humor, mixed with a rather troubling visual style where everything is stiff and vaguely deformed, mostly just makes you feel uneasy.
-
Fans of zombies and the absurd may want to tune in but there's nothing funny or interesting enough in Ugly Americans to keep me coming back.
-
Ugly Americans is just crude and vulgar. It's not funny. It's lame. Really lame. It's not just that it's inappropriate for children, it's inappropriate for everyone. Well, everyone with an IQ in double digits. It's terrible.
