While watching other people have the time of their lives is so often a total turn-off, spending time with Tucci as he sniffs out gastronomic delights like a truffle hunter, delving into hidden corners of his grandparents’ homeland, is actually a rare delight.

Rather than simply exploring the regional distinctions and historical echoes to be found in various strains of Italian cuisine, Mr. Tucci connects Italian technology and industry to the quality of the food (which is really the star of the show). .... [Tucci] knows sufficient Italian, he knows how to charm the locals in whatever locality he’s in, and he appreciates what goes into the food he’s being served—or that is being served.

Stanley Tucci isn’t exactly the most relatable or warm presence as a travel host, but he is thorough, and Tucci In Italy is a good continuation of the journey through the country that he started on CNN in 2021.

It is simply a love fest between Tucci and everyone he meets, Tucci and everything he eats and, just possibly, for those of us who have started to feel that a little bit of Tucci goes a long way, between Tucci and Tucci.
