Jack Ryan is basically James Bond in this one
The politics is white washed and simplistic Theres a boat plot that goes nowhere and is so plain dumb I wondered if I missed an episode The whole season is just amateurish

Terrible writing quality. Ruined all story continuity and Jack's entire character. These writers are nothing but a couple clowns.

Compared to season 1, this season is trash. The new characters are terrible and the old characters lose all their character-development.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. S1 had its faults but overall was entertaining. S2 is a big letdown. The plot makes very little sense and is full of holes so big it is difficult to watch. In this era of "peak TV" I guess quantity rules over quality. Oh and what happened to Cathy? She was a big part of S1 and is not even mentioned in S2. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Jack Ryan is a superhero in this season. He is a mix between Chuck Norris and a supper accountant. Wasn’t he supposed to be an Economist? I’m sure economists are not filling your tax returns.
Tom Clancy’s characters were supposed to be ‘real’. This is a cartoonish show, I’m sure there is something similar out there (with a better story).

I rather enjoyed the first season in spite of my reservations regarding the portrayal of the radicalization of Islam being brought on by the West.

Once again in season 2 I was willing to overlook the obvious error in portraying Venezuela as a "right wing" state instead of the Socialist sh-hole that it is. What killed it for me this time round is the excessive use of anti-Christian

Once again in season 2 I was willing to overlook the obvious error in portraying Venezuela as a "right wing" state instead of the Socialist sh-hole that it is.

What killed it for me this time round is the excessive use of anti-Christian profanity by one of the new supporting actors. This was so forced and unnatural it gave the impression of being little more than a feeble attempt to compensate for her poor acting, which is sad as the other members of the cast seemed to be doing a fine job. As is the case with many things in life though, it only takes one bad apple to destroy the whole batch.

My review thus only covers episode 1 and a portion of episode 2 as I did not watch any further.

Very silly show. Greer character doesn't tell anyone he has a heart condition, but he runs after bad guys and goes in to the jungle on a Black Ops mission? The Venezuelan "Nationalist" thinks its a good idea to murder a US Senator as a way to cover up his activities? And since when is Venezuela Nationalist, not Socialist? Very average acting and plot cracks out the ying/yang.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

A stodgy rehash of the Harrison Ford movie Clear and Present Danger. The writers throw out any sort of continuity and logic by getting rid of Jack Ryan's love interest from last season (she's not even mentioned) and ignoring the political realities of Venezuela- it seems they mistook that country with Colombia when writing this. Horrible. Skip it.

The second season still lands with more dissonance because of the very aspect that should make the character feel more relevant – that is, its proximity to reality. ... The problem may be that Krasinski’s Jack Ryan is closely informed by other actor’s interpretations of the character, namely Harrison Ford’s. Amazon’s “Jack Ryan” still clings to an outdated action movie ethos that relies on a general ignorance about the way the world actually is versus a version of how it ought to be when Michael Bay was redefining action movie bombast.

If Season 1 wasn’t your bag, there are no significant changes to the series’ DNA here to suddenly turn you around on the series. And while there’s enough good in Jack Ryan Season 2 to keep it from being a complete waste, I do hope the already-ordered third season takes a beat to fine-tune a few key aspects of the show.

Jack Ryan is still fun, despite being a little bit ridiculous and predictable.
