Deserves a lot more than 5.1 , lots of absurd laugh out load moments , and a comic tune in each episode , love this series.

Tried to give it a chance as I really quite liked what we do in the shadows but it seems that Matt Berry is better as an actor than as a writer. I will be upfront and say I only made it through 3 episodes but they were just so poor: the jokes felt forced, the humour just wasn't doing anything. It felt pretentiousness but not even in a self-aware way. Very disappointing unfortunately.

Toast is something of a loser, but also enough of a hero, relatively speaking, to keep us on his side. ... Berry is a stocky, hirsute fellow, with a big, rich voice that immediately calls to mind the word “thespian” and gives everything he says a sheen of (over)dramatic irony. ... Tonally (and thematically) “Toast of London” more resembles Maria Bamford’s absurdist “Lady Dynamite,” another show about the indignities of show business.
