The show is allegedly for 'nerds' as Wil exclaims every episode, but I can't help but feel that only North American fanboys are invited to the buffet. The jokes are boorish, telegraphed and poorly-written; delivered in a style that leaves you wincing for Wil attempts to salvage a showbiz career.
Perhaps it's a personal dislike, but the 'immature know-it-all loudmouth' geek subtype is

Perhaps it's a personal dislike, but the 'immature know-it-all loudmouth' geek subtype is just the worst. Down with this sort of thing!

Finally, in this era of global audiences, following the same format as Tosh.0 smacks of laziness and pandering to the lowest common denominator. Don't geeks and nerds hold themselves in higher esteem than that?

Despite a strong inaugural episode, there are still some kinks to be worked out. Wheaton, channeling a nervous energy, only appeared to relax fully during a few of his jokes, but much more of the material felt stilted. It's a small thing that will surely only get more streamlined as Wheaton settles into the role.
