The writers must've had absolutely no enthusiasm or care for their work. Just trying to get a paycheck.

The episode where they apparently decided to throw away the last semblance of actually adapting the book series and instead wrote some half baked fanfic. Blood and ashes!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Episode took away all feats of the male characters, made the Aes Sedai Moraine seem completely inept and in way over her head, gave channelers (untrained woman absolute an touch Saidar) way to much power and abilities, and completely took away the logic for the potential for character development later on in the series b... why make woman train at the White tower now if they can level armies? Writing was absolute rubbish and literally acted like their was no source material to base the show off of. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. By far the worst episode. Not even close to the story in the book. It’s like they sat down and said how can we make an episode that is the complete opposite of the book. In the book Egwene has weak healing skills and Nynaeve is one of the most skilled healers ever. Why in the world would they have Egwene heal Nynaeve? Just one example of how they changed the book for no apparent reason. I loathe this series. Expand

Just a bad adaption. CGI was noticeably bad. Story was clunky and had a bad flow.

This episode is hands-down the worst edited and directed episode. Nothing makes any sense moment to moment. Moiraine has a "tell" that allows her to be tracked. Two characters hike so far that they need to sleep *twice* only to turn aroundThis episode is hands-down the worst edited and directed episode. Nothing makes any sense moment to moment. Moiraine has a "tell" that allows her to be tracked. Two characters hike so far that they need to sleep *twice* only to turn around and reveal their origin is perhaps 5 miles distant.

The show makers and the military characters have all the tactical understanding of a three-year-old throwing toy soldiers at a wall. For some reason the character known in the books to have little talent with Healing heals the character known in the books to have the greatest talent with Healing instead of the other way around.

A line from the books that revealed a hitherto-unseen side of Lan is used in amateur fashion as an easter egg by *Fain* of all people.

The Dragon Reborn doesn't save the world because it's right or it's his duty. No, he does it because the girl who's been treating him like her personal erotic yo-yo wants him to do it.

By the way, the Dragon Reborn is Lews Therin "reborn". This episode literally calls Lews Therin the Dragon Reborn. This episode literally includes "saidin" in the dialogue and STILL never so much as mentions that men and women channel different sides of the One Power, as though the showmakers are allergic to gender dichotomy, probably the most prominent theme of the books.

If I had the ability to use balefire and were locked in a room with the master copies of this show, The Last Airbender, Eragon, and a common ancestor of Hitler, Stalin, and Mao, I would balefire WoT.

The WoT show strays from the author's story from the beginning, which makes it feel like GoT season 8 and does not bode well for the rest of the series. It's very, very loosely based off the books, while GoT stayed close to the books early on, which is why it was good. TV writers are not as good as Robert Jordan or G.R.R. Martin... and it shows. The episode had too many holes from a narrative perspective, and as a long time fan it was absolutely horrifying to watch. Rafe broke trust with readers hard.

Watching episode 8 was like having a conversation with someone who doesn’t really speak your language, but they’ve seen a few commercials. They’re frantically pointing at a hole in the ground and saying, “Eye of the World, Eye of the World!” but then rubbing their stomach and miming driving a car, and you’re not really sure if they’re hungry or if they need gasoline but you’re pretty sure they need help, you want to give it but then they stab you. As you’re bleeding out you realize it was a mugging, but then they join a flash mob and they’re dancing, and you’re just back to being confused. Expand

I rarely create accounts only to rate tv shows negatively, yet what Amazon and Rafe Judkins is doing to the late Robert Jordan's masterpiece is sacrilegious enough to make me do it and here I am. It's understandable TV shows need to makeI rarely create accounts only to rate tv shows negatively, yet what Amazon and Rafe Judkins is doing to the late Robert Jordan's masterpiece is sacrilegious enough to make me do it and here I am. It's understandable TV shows need to make small changes to their source material to accommodate for the medium because some stuff is just not possible on a screen. But with the budget this series has that is not an excuse for the **** that was episode 8. Up until now, I was hoping the show would get better but episode 8 has come to kill that hope. Tons of weird changes big and small that has no reason to exist, Loial dead? Moiraine stilled? Ltt is now a big jerk? A bunch of side characters with no training stealing the Dragon Reborn's much needed spotlight? Them calling LTT the dragon reborn yet he was the first dragon? The Aiel is now the Aiel Jungle? Agelmar, a war veteran dead in 30 seconds? Mat, the joy of the series and great fun to watch, becoming Bully Mattguire? Anticlimactic forsaken "fight"? Not to say the lazy editing, effects and cgi that does not belong to a show with 9 digits. I could say more but that's enough. I won't watch s2. Go read the books. Don't support this obvious appeal to feminism and who knows what their target audience was. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This series is not wheel of time. Every character has been assassinated and now only shares the name. Mat, a hero who's entire thing is he is reluctant but ALWAYS is the one to come to the rescue has been turned into a literal villian. That alone deserves a 1/10 but sadly there is so much more wrong with this show. Terrible pacing, no sense of space and characters teleporting wherever they are needed. No stakes because nothing is established, the danger of the Dark One, WHO KNOWS? An army of trollocs, Untrained non-sedai can handle that easy. The blight, touch everything, you'll be fine. This isn't an accident, it is intentional. This is the result of a show created by people that openly dislike the source material. Rafe stated himself half his writers hate the books and didn't read them. He himself believes the books aren't good enough for a general audience and that he was fine with losing book readers by completely rewriting the story to appeal to Twitter idiots. This isn't a show designed to be good, but one designed to check boxes, because Twitter cares more about "inclusivity" than about quality. So much so that the show has avoided touching on the magic systems rules because they are afraid it will lose them points with Trans people. So we are left with deus ex machina magic that just does whatever is needed when it is needed without any structure. This whole show is without structure, just a hodgepodge of scenes mashed together with terrible editing. Lacking tension, lacking substance. Lacking. Expand
