Moves along at a mad clip and stays just the right side of schlockiness, although it’s often the way with ITV popcorn thrillers that they lose the plot by episode three so we shall see what happens. Turner, sporting a lockdown beard and speaking in his own Irish accent, is suitably enigmatic in the lead role.

It is all great, well-acted fun – and shaping up very satisfactorily. It promises to be meaty enough to justify its five-part length. Turner does a particularly good job of holding the two possible sides of O’Loughlin.

A whodunnit that is cheesy as anything, but to be admired for committing wholeheartedly to its absurd, coincidence-laden storyline. ... Turner gave a masterclass in charm, even as his character’s actions telegraphed an underlying creepiness.
