Sadly, I also came away from the first four episodes of The Spanish Princess with the sense that its hats have been crafted with more care than its characters. A few of them do spring to life with more persuasive detail than the others. ... As someone who read the two novels this show is based on, I found this show fascinating. However, if you are not into royalty dramas, this show probably won't be your cup of tea. Stopped 10 minutes in. It is so embarrassingly cheap and badly written. I expected some quality BBC historical drama, I got some Harlequin trash instead.

I tried to watch this, but it was so laughably unbelievable I couldn't. I watched the White Queen and enjoyed it, and Elizabeth is one of my favorite films, but this smacked of over the top feminism. I'm all for equality, but quit trying to rewrite history.
