The scifi premise was interesting, if derivative. But the whole thing reeks of social engineering: all the bad guys are white males, the good guys are women, non-white males and the disabled (deaf). This series renews my hatred of cliffhangers. I thought "Who shot JR" was crappy enough. "Society" sets a new low of respectability.
