Predictable. He ends up protecting a key witness (Luciane Buchanan) as they scramble to elude the bad guys. Predictable. Turns out that the scheme involves double dealings at the highest level of government. Predictable. So, what stands out about this series? Basso has grown into an assured leading man type, so he works in the lead. Otherwise, the series adheres closely to established plot points and twists of the genre. There's much more discussion drama than action, but the few chase or fight scenes are adequately staged. Even though there's absolutely nothing new here, it's still a passable, but quickly forgotten addition espionage thriller. Expand

"The Night Agent" (S01, 10 eps, 45-min, Netflix) is an attempt at an FBI action thriller series but it's lacking a few key elements that warrant a middling rating rather than a high rating. This might be because there are 10, count 'em, 10"The Night Agent" (S01, 10 eps, 45-min, Netflix) is an attempt at an FBI action thriller series but it's lacking a few key elements that warrant a middling rating rather than a high rating. This might be because there are 10, count 'em, 10 executive producers, so this is a tv show by committee and that may have been its core problem. The nut of the story is really good and it's got good production values, so this show had real potential, but it dropped the ball in its execution maybe because there are five directors (!) and eight writers (!), most with little/no experience. So once again, another new Netflix series is really just a gimpy training ground for rookies to get writing/directing credits at our entertainment expense and I am so tired of this being the 90% case - only 1 in 10 new Netflix shows are decent enough to watch to the end. Well I called time-of-death at episode three when it just got too stupid to endure further. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It entertained me for a hungover Sunday, but it was dragged out and too formulaic. I dislike conspiracies where it feels like everyone whos in any power is in on it. I didnt follow every plotline but it felt kind of... unnecessary in the end? The whole premise of blowing a metro up to (maybe) kill somebody and possibly thousands of others sounsds ridiculous and like they came up with it on the go. Everyone acted super uncautious, like WHAT? A tracking device on my car NO WAY! As I said, its a passable watch for a rainy sunday with no schedule, but the plotholes are staggering at times. And the most ridiculous outcome is for the protagonist to become a night agent willingly at the end - like «yeah, after being treated like **** by the government for the deeds of my father and learning that literally all the entities in the white house are corrupt and those who arent wind up dead I will now set myself up for off the books government jobs, just to be dropped like a hot potatoe and/or getting tortured and/or killed at the next convenience. When can I start!?? » Expand
