Faintly charming and landing an occasional punchline like that one, The Mayor is somewhat more amusing than open-mic night at a college pub, but that's about as extravagant as the praise is going to get.

My biggest concern rewatching the pilot was that almost everything I found memorable was in the premise-setting first half. Then in the second half, when the show tries illustrating what it might be like to have Courtney as mayor, it becomes pretty flat. Since that's the actual show, I'd want to see something better.

It’s a cute premise. But the pilot is not believable or funny, which isn’t to say it couldn’t have been either of those things, but the details don’t ring true and the humor is sort of amusing but rarely elicits a laugh.

The pilot is predictable and a little rushed. It is not a laugh-out-loud comedy, but the show will certainly put a smile on your face. Also, the cast led by Brandon Micheal Hall is a winner. All in all, The Mayor is the kind of show that fills you with optimism and makes you think that tomorrow will be better. Full Review »

Seems the writers are over-caffeinated and trying hard for punctuated laughs when slowing it down a bit and leaving some breathing room for the actors to shine would be a better choice. Full Review »

Great show... was very sad when they canceled it. I wish they had kept it on air.
