The episode echoes the past in many subtle ways. It really has the Star Wars spirit all over it. Just the thing we need in times like these!

Rescuing the whole Starwars universe. The show can turn into a fan people that has never watched a full old generation movie.
I saw it happening several times already

The show seems to be carrying the essence of the original trilogy

I am sad I can't give this episode more than a 10, it's that good. I can't wait to see where Favreau and Filoni go next with this.

They could flush out each character in this episode by 10 minutes each and turn it into a movie that would be epic by all standards. Instead, watch the first 15 episodes because they are good, and see what the word "entertainment" really stands for.

A spectacular finale for an absolutely excellent (I'm talking original trilogy level) Season 2 of The Mandalorian. The episode's final act had me in denial at first, followed by wonder, and eventually, elation and joy (also, admittedly, tears). What an ending it was! Old friends made a memorable appearance that won't be forgotten. Grogu and Din shared a beautiful moment that mirrored that of Luke and Anakin in RotJ.

The stormtroopers, as is usual within Star Wars lore, still aimed terribly, and the four women team-up - aided by beskar, jetpacks, talent, training, and, more backstory than Rey Palpatine will ever have - kicked ass, and almost, al-f**king-most, completed their entire mission objectives (Moff Gideon's noteworthy cunning, unfortunately, prevented a clean sweep). Quite the villain, he is.

All in all, this episode, for me, was honestly on par with 'The Empire Strikes Back' -- it was truly that good; that exhilarating; that outstanding; and that memorable. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have given us a Christmas present we thought would never come. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to them. It's so good that I want to watch it again, for the fifth time. 9.8 / 10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You know things aren't great when Bill Burr puts in the best performance of the entire season. Having Luke show up was tired and predictable. big missed opportunity to introduce a cool new Jedi... One that might be a bit more morally ambiguous and interesting. cinematography was brilliant as usual. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Mandalorian pulled off something I didnt think possible. It has managed to preserve all the wonder that made the original trilogy great, but still managed to make a story that is refreshingly original in its take. This episode just punctuates that so amazingly well with the arrival of Luke Skywalker. Even the way he arrives reminds me of Darth Vader in Rogue One, but this time the badass is on the good side! The way it was done was just masterful - when I saw the X-Wing arrive I thought it must be "some random Jedi". By the time I saw the green lightsaber, I was like, cool - its just like Luke's - I guess they reused a stage prop ;-). Then when I saw his glove, I thought - no. Can't be. And when he raises his hood, it was just incredible!

Well done Favreau. The Last Jedi was so awful a movie that it was the only Star Wars film I've watched only once, and have since tried to eliminate it from memory. It left a strange void about Luke's life that this episode filled so well - showing Luke as he was always meant to be. It was not blatant fan service and rehashed nonsense, but just consistent with how that story should have continued.

Another stupid episode. Aweful plot and writing. The direction is incredibly stupid and the coreography mind-blowingly silly. Not to talk about the fan service.

Seeing Luke, who had just finally begun growing into the hero and legend he was destined to be in ROTJ, immediately turn into the antisocial, nephew-murdering, family-abandoning loser in TLJ who failed at building a new, improved, successful, and lasting Jedi Order and then died alone absolutely broke my heart. Seeing him like THIS, back when he was still a symbol of hope, was the most uplifting, triumphant thing I have seen on television in YEARS. The buildup was fantastic, and the entire scene was nothing short of rapturous

And the best thing? His arrival didn't diminish any of the new characters at all!! While Luke's scene was absolutely INCREDIBLE, Din and Grogu's goodbye still captured my attention and my heart. This episode allowed EVERYBODY to shine, and I absolutely adore that!!!!

Oh god, in a way, this makes the Disney Trilogy THAT MUCH WORSE though. Like, I would give ANYTHING, any amount of money, for Disney to create an alternate timeline where Leia successfully leads the New Republic, Luke successfully builds a new and improved Jedi Order, and every OT character is respected and didn't have their victories undid. I want to have a new timeline where they get to maintain their successes while allowing new characters to take the torch, face entirely new and different problems, and shine

ABSOLUTE 10000000/10!!!!!

Haven’t been this excited to view an entry repeatedly since the Special Editions first came out in 1997 and this will go down as one of the seminal moments in the franchise's history giving fans and non-fans alike a wonderful redo of a conclusion to the story of a beloved original trilogy character. And to top it off, this was a worthy conclusion to the show’s first arc of Seasons 1-2 and the story of Grogu, Mando and all the characters he's gathered around himself over the course of two seasons. I really can't say enough positive about this episode and season, except to say, THANK YOU too all involved. They've breathed on the last remaining embers of this reviewer's Star Wars fandom after it was all but extinguished after the Sequel Trilogy and reignited it in a way I didn't dare hope was possible.
