The cross over of Chinese belief systems into Japanese culture is bizarre and confusing.

Seriously. Skip this show and save yourself a lot of pain.

Unfortunately, subsequent seasons become increasingly preachy, insufferable, dumb, and nonsensical. Any well observed character moments are immediately undercut with thudding exposition, just to make sure you "GET THE POINT! DO YOU GET IT!?" This is also a show which snowballs into intersectional politics. Yet another show where the male characters are flawed, while the females are heroic leaders, conscientious off the battlefield and butt kickers on it who "don't need saving" because they can easily take out a man twice their size, and do so multiple times in every episode. If you believe that communists, if only they could take control, will usher in a bright new future this show will paint a beautiful dream for you. By the end, subtlety is done away with completely and the writing becomes nothing more than an ideological screed. Worst of all, the ending makes absolutely no sense. Expand

Season 4 just destroyed all my interest in the show, they went so far left that it made it unwatchable.

The series started off well, with an interesting premise. I’m not necessarily against politics in TV and Film, especially when we are talking about a series such as The Man in the High Castle. It is inherently political. However, Season 4 took this too far. It felt more like I was watching political propaganda than a TV series for enjoyment. A lot of the social commentary felt forced and negatively impacted the flow of dialogue in the series. The Irish guy, the Trade Minister and Smith are all decent characters though played by decent actors.
