    Amazing fan fiction and fine return to Middle-Earth
    I read all Tolkien Books and watched Jackson’s films (by the way, I think they are no less fanfics than The Rings of Power) and I enjoyed them as much as enjoy this series

Crybabies are gonna cry like the babies they are, complaining about "wokeness" and whatever, but the fact is that the original material Tolkien wrote decades ago was already pretty loose and not very well defined and the dialogue and plot of the series fill the gaps appropriately.     Brilliant start to the season for The Rings of Power. Lush, transcendent visuals with particularly compelling performances from Morfydd Clark (Galadriel), Ismael Cruz Córdova (Arondir) and Markella Kavenagh (Nori).

    The series offers everything a "Lord of the Rings" fan could wish for. Of course, there is no book by the brilliant Tolkien. But you can tell that the creators have put themselves into the world and show an interpretation of Middle Earth that convinces me. All the bad reviews, on the other hand, say more about the reviewers than about the series.

Seems like these people wanted to hate the show no matter how it turned out.     Remarkably well done, delighted to experience Middle Earth as a TV show. Decades ago I never would’ve dreamed of seeing this day. They captured the feel and scale of the previous movies wonderfully, and several of the characters are delightful.

    Visually Stunning, Awesome Musical Score, Great Acting, in Many Ways Better than Peter Jackson. I enjoyed the heck out of the first two episode. I'm so pissed at those review bombing this. This doesn't deserve it. To all you pre-disposed haters you're driving up the divisiveness in our culture - open you minds and stop being such "Negative Nellies".

    Loved it! It really sets a new high bar for what can be done on streaming. The acting is excellent and the visuals are amazing. It's also the update to the LOTR IP sorely needed. Check it out for your self, don't fall in the trap of the negative reviews from people who clearly didn't even watch the show.

    I really don't understand the negative reviews! I watched the first episode as a Lord of the Rings fan and am very pleased with how the character of the literature and especially the films has been preserved. It has just been modernized! That was clear in advance! And then the new variation in skin tones seems to be a main complaint. I'm losing my faith! Lord of the Rings is a work of fiction, detached from the bonds of the earth. Just because skin color is often tied to a specific culture in our world doesn't mean it has to be the case in this series. Humans are not bound to a particular cultures because of their physique, but because of history. The world of Lord of the Rings has a history of its own though, so why would there be **** racial segregation??? And just because it was more monotonous in the previous films and books, luckily it doesn't have to be the same in newer works! Art just keeps evolving!

    If you can't handle that, at least don't try to spoil the fun of the series for others! Almost everything I see here is driven by hate. Keep the hate for yourself, I don't need it!

    Fresh and great narration, unfurnately other viewers will compare it imediately with the movies, but just like the first movie of the lord of the rings, it will start telling you the story and allocating all the pieces before start playing the game. Awesome escenography, good acting, and very focused on all the little details.

    Outstanding first two episodes. Pure spectacle! Watch it on biggest screen possible.. Music, cinematography, attention to details, I love the tone, atmosphere and motifs they are focused on... They respected Tolkien's mythology and gave us something familiar but fresh at the same time. Really looking forward to it

    Its great. Far better so far than the Hobbit. Just the orcs are so mutch fearsome than PJs harmeless CGI goblin mess. Actors, filming, music is all great. Cant wait for more of this show. Finally back to middle earth. And I think this will be truer to the works of JRR then the movies were.

    No freaking way is this a 2.4. I never change my own score to balance out obvoius review bombing but I had to this time. Realistically this is a 7/10 but I gave it a 10/10 because I don't want this show canceled because its pretty damn good so far! The show is a visual marvel without a doubt.     visually stunning, engaging music throughout. the characters feel real and the dialogue as well. they've nailed the adaptation. action packed from the start thankfully unlike House of the Dragon. Can't wait to watch more : )

    I'm giving it 10 stars for its breathtaking joy. There is so much heart in this series so far. It's perfectly cast and the script and score are fantastic. This is possibly the best looking fantasy film I've ever seen. It looks like it cost twice what Amazon reportedly spent.

    I don't get the negative reviews, the first 2 episodes were great. I liked House of the Dragon, but this show is superior to every fantasy show out there (Wheel of time, GOT, shadow and bone, etc). One show to rule them all.

    The series is wonderful, very beautiful, from the effects to the costumes, from the performances (which was a little average, I confess) to the characterization, this is all very good, pure Tolkien juice, the references? Wonderful!

    The visuals are astonishing and very powerful. It really resembled the vfx the LOTR trilogy had. The photography direction did a great job and gifted us beautiful scenarios. Seeing Celebrimbor taking life in other media than the videogame and the books was a pleasure.

    The actors were, imo, very fond of their roles. Specially Elrond and Galadriel. Aramayo's and Clark's works were sublime.

    It delivers depth to the characters presented and leaves us wanting more. Good dialogues, a great explanation of what happened and the motivations (especially Galadriel), and impeccable scenarios, with drama, comedy, action and a bit of horror.     This is a very promising start to the Second Age and the show is very well done and stays true to a lot of themes Tolkien explored in his earlier works. The cast is very solid. I have a few minor quibbles, but overall, this seems like it's on track. Ignore the detractors who are probably influenced by their own corrupt views of Tolkien.

And all others complaining material is not true to source, that is another BS. Tolkien estate did NOT sell the Silmarillion because they asked prohibitively high amount that no one can pay.     Loving everything I've seen so far. Amazon does not have the rights to use the Tolkien's texts strictly, so it had to make some adaptations, but the entire universe is consistent with the writer's work and the events reported beyond what is described are believable.

    There's a campaign to review bomb this unfortunately by online trolls. But I've actually watched it and it's really great. Compelling, beautiful, thought provoking, scary, funny, and true to Middle Earth.

    At the very least, this is reverant of the Tolkein's source material and loyal to the aesthetic values defined by Peter Jackson's work. As for characters and plot, give them a **** chance...

    I loved it. It is visually stunning, and has great characters, and the potential to be an all time classic. Tolkien fanboys can go hide in their mummy's basement and write snarky posts about black elves and "lore'... the rest of us will enjoy a brilliant show.

    Actual score is closer to an 8, but I'm trying to balance out the knee jerk 0's.
    I had a lot of hesitation about this, b/c Galadriel seemed to be retconned into a completely diff character (basically Eowyn)...hot headed shield maiden etc. ----- BUT------ it turns out that Tolkien's notes DO actually reflect a backstory for "warrior/commander Galadriel" albeit briefly.

    So many edgelords that were going to hate this show no matter what.... and I mean that as someone who is very critical. Show is fantastic. Silmarillion is one of my favorite books, and I knew going in this wasn't the Silmarillion, but it pairs up with it and LOTR perfectly.     The show is rich and epic. The mythology is very complex so the beginning needs to set the stage and can't move that fast.

    This is a great work of art. Visuals and production are perfect, great character introductions, the pacing is low but this is good for true fans. Two amazing episodes and hope the rest will be even better.

    Way better than I expected it to be. Great visuals and cinematography. Although the story makes some glaring changes from the original source material, it isn't enough to take away from the pretty decent plot they have going on.

    I've never been a fan of Tolkien's universe, but after two episodes I'm downright enchanted by its beauty. Amazon has created a new class of quality in creating the series. I thought that the visuals couldn't beat Game of Thrones, but this series proves me wrong

    I am pleasantly suprised!!! The first episodes are superb, good castig, epic battles, an a lush world! As a child i would have killed for a tv show like this which featured my fafourite books! But sure there are flaws, i hope that they will iron it out during the first season! But so far it doesnt deserve the hat it gets on the web!

    loved it. its not like LOTR and Hobbit, but definitely interesting. don't understand all the negative reviews.

    definitely recommend it and cant wait for next episodes.

    So far so good. I have to give it a 10 on visual merit alone. This is the highest quality looking TV show I’ve ever seen. There’s a true artistry to these visuals, like it has been meticulously storyboarded for years before a camera rolled and now we are seeing the fruits of that labor. I appreciate that level of calculation in a fantasy epic which paints in such broad strokes. ThisSo far so good. I have to give it a 10 on visual merit alone. This is the highest quality looking TV show I’ve ever seen. There’s a true artistry to these visuals, like it has been meticulously storyboarded for years before a camera rolled and now we are seeing the fruits of that labor. I appreciate that level of calculation in a fantasy epic which paints in such broad strokes. This story is told visually, and with confidence. There are moments where less expensive shows would cut away but this one sticks with it and gives you the full sequence. That’s what elevates it— it feels like they had free reign to make every sequence as good as it could be, not just as good as they could afford. On the script side there are some great lines and moments in here. “The wind that seeks to blow out a candle can also stoke its flames.” [paraphrasing]. That and several other lines caught my ear as going above and beyond the call of duty for a television series into literary territory. The pacing oscillates between slow medium and fast throughout its runtime and that kept me on my toes. The slow parts can be a little slow and episode 2 in particular felt more like a TV show than the first episode but overall it maintains a good balance of series/movie hybrid. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Acting is exceptional thus far, especially Galandriel. There is something about this woman that draws my attention. Every character is well done and they all have something intriguing about them. The actors are well cast and I like what everyone is doing with their role.

    I think considering the ambition of this project the creative team knocked it out of the park. This is high stakes filmmaking and it’s paying off so far.    … Expand

    The days of review bombing is so cringy.

    I myself went to a pre screening event on the 31st and it was magnificent, I do have my nitpicks, but I went in with an open mind, deactivated Facebook for a while and just watched, and there isn't a series out there quite like this one. If you are on the fence, and aren't toxic sheep haters. Give it a go.

    While the first few episodes are all about world building and character development, the show does suffer as it takes a while for it to find it's feet.
    The last few episodes are where things really pick up and it's perfectly set up for a strong 2nd season.

    Adar’s début drips with signifiers. ... When Adar informs Arondir in Episode 4 that he has been told many lies, some that “run so deep even the rocks and roads now believe them,” it is still a thrill. Tolkien succeeded in creating a mythic world, one that has now grown vast enough through acts of typological repetition and imitation to conquer television, too.

    With war brewing and the forging of the rings seemingly still far off, the first half of The Rings of Power’s first season constitutes little more than stage-setting for the struggle to come. Given the lack of quests and central commanding figures, it often makes for less-than-gripping drama. However, given that there are four more seasons already planned, and potentially dozens of new characters to be introduced, the slow and throat-clearing build is possibly a good sign.
