    To start, I’m trying to review this from two perspectives: Fans of Critical Role and the uninitiated. With that in mind, if you’re a fan of critical role and have invested the hours into the web series, this is a 10. It’s inanely rewarding if you’ve been with the cast the whole time - like watching a book be written. By the author only to years later see it adapted for the screen. ThereTo start, I’m trying to review this from two perspectives: Fans of Critical Role and the uninitiated. With that in mind, if you’re a fan of critical role and have invested the hours into the web series, this is a 10. It’s inanely rewarding if you’ve been with the cast the whole time - like watching a book be written. By the author only to years later see it adapted for the screen. There are Easter eggs, callbacks, and more for those who’ve followed the series. That being said, it’s still accessible to new fans. If you’re new, this series will likely be a 7 or an 8 for you - supposing you’re a genre fan who knows not to take it too seriously. Since it’s based on d&d, that should be obvious. If you’re worried a booklet getting into it, don’t worry: the length of episodes and the story are far easier to get into here than they would be on YouTube in D&D. The pacing is brisk, the animation is crisp, and the voice acting is just as good as you’d expect. Regardless, the first three episode are a knockout. They’re simple enough to bring new comers in, but offer enough hints at a larger story that the original fans followed for years. Given time, The Legend of Vox Machina will become something trusty special.… Expand

    This is just a wonderful adaption of the chaotic party of Vox Machina. A love letter to both D&D and Critical Role fans, LoVM excels at being a fun classic fantasy adventure. The tone can be inconsistent for newcomers without context however.

    This show won’t be for everyone. It is catered to me, specifically. And anyone like me. Because of this, I think the show is close to perfection.

    If you’re a critter, watch the show. If you’re a D&D or fantasy fan who isn’t afraid of vulgarity, watch the show. Remember, the show will progressively get better. Remember that these characters can be unlikeable because they have room to grow,    This show won’t be for everyone. It is catered to me, specifically. And anyone like me.     The Legend of Vox Machina is an absolute blast. I have only dabbled in D&D, but I have listened to Critical Role. I'm really excited to see rest of season 1. The animation is beautiful, the humor is great, and I really like how each character is allowed to have moments.

They started a kickstarter campaign and raised over 11 million dollars making it the most successful kickstarter campaign ever. Three years later The Legend of Vox Machina is reality. The show is hilarious, fun, silly, bawdy, cute, rude, yet wholesome all at the same time. The legend of Vox Machina takes place on an imaginary world called Tal Dorei which is full of magic and high fantasy. This show is unique. The art animation is amazing and is the best work the studio of Titmouse has ever done. The music is incredible, and the bard Scanlan Shorthalt's songs are hilarious, weird, silly, and bawdy. The show is a hit to the Critters that backed it and i'm sure it's going to be a hit with adults everywhere. Imagine the Lord of the Rings with raunchy college humor and you are sure to come close to The Legend of Vox Machina.… Expand

    It is as expected based on the the live stream. The series is a slow burn with the first couple episodes being the introduction. The series picks up speed as the actual Briarwood arc begins.

    Fans of Critical Role will be pleased with the copious number of Easter eggs and the overall fan service.

    I hate animes and I am a proud cinematic snob. But this is seriously and surprisingly really above average. Plot, pacing and editing...while maintaining a clever balance between action, character development and humour. No small feat especially for a genre accustomed to pandering to simplistic teenage tropes. I couldn't wait for each new installment to my own bewilderment. Each episode isI hate animes and I am a proud cinematic snob. But this is seriously and surprisingly really above average. Plot, pacing and editing...while maintaining a clever balance between action, character development and humour.     Having watched thorough a big chunk of the real play web series I must say they captured the essence of their personal gameplay. Watching this is an absolute blast and I can't wait for more.

    It's great way to introduce people to DND. My only grif with the show is the vox character she is just unlikeable, if she isn't constantly putting down druid girl then she always has to b right.

    Not every show is for everyone, but this is certainly for me. Fascinating and fun characters, equally engaging villains, a tight and twisty story, excellent animation, and some of the most fun I've had watching anything in a long time. A strong recommendation to those who enjoy fantasy, quality animation, or just a great story explored by great characters.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Legend of Vox Machina is a truly wonderful show that is fitting for kids and people of strict religious… Wait, wait a minute, wrong show. Starting over.

    The Legend of Vox Machina opens a genre for me that haven’t seen on television since the 1983 cartoon, Dungeons and Dragons. Except this time, we don’t see one-dimensional campy characters geared at children but instead the creators of Critical Role, bring us the well needed Red-Band adult version.

    I found the main characters of Vox Machina to be edgy, heartfelt, and quick witted. The comedy is fun and full of energy and thankfully, even a bit raunchy at times (thanks Scanlan). I thought that the animation was very well done and fit the visual direction which fit the story’s direction!

    While I did find the first episode to be a bit slower paced than the rest, I was very pleased when things quickly took off in the following two episodes and I became invested in the characters journey. I was laughing out loud when an unexpected game of ball tag broke out amongst Grog and Vax which concluded fantastically with a single powerful punch to nuts of Grog, while Vax was delivering a speech about dignity, so good! This for me I believe this foreshadows where the narrative path is taking us. Humorous surprises, heartfelt storylines, all backed up by the real-life friendship that these collaborators have for one another, which is just contagious.

    Anything goes in The Legend of Vox Machina, just like in the highly successful show, Critical Role. From glimpsing the outline of Scanlan’s balls, to the brutally torn apart party of adventurers, the Legend of Vox Machina will ring out like a giant burp echoing in the Sovereigns chambers. I for one am looking forward to the seeing the beauty, pain, and laughter that Vox Machina has in store for us all!    … Expand

    As a viewer, I particularly connected with Keyleth, the half-elven druid. Her journey from self-doubt to self-confidence was both inspiring and relatable. Her interactions with the other members of Vox Machina were often touching and heartfelt, adding depth to an already rich and compelling narrative.

    Overall, The Legend of Vox Machina: Season 1 is a must-watch for any fan of high-fantasy storytelling. With stunning animation, gripping action, and a cast of unforgettable characters, it's an experience that will stay with you long after the credits roll.    … Expand

    Vox Machina is a fun, chaotic ride through the world the players in Critical Role have been building upon for years. It takes the characters viewers are likely already familiar with, and establishes a story that both fans and newcomers can get into without catching up on the series.

    The Legend of Vox Machina is a competently produced story decidedly informed by the sensibilities of a new generation of players, the kind of series that shares DNA with the ’83 cartoon and the disastrous 2000 film, but also looks absolutely nothing like either of them. And while it won’t net Hasbro any royalties, it unquestionably moves the phenomenon one step deeper into the mainstream.

    The first episode feels a bit drawn out, and a few cuts would have still left a tight rollicking fun time. But it’s easy to forget your gripes once the fun picks back up, and the rest of the series lacks the meandering asides of the first episode, and introduces character backstory and threads of intrigue to sink your teeth into.
