A Must-see of 2023, especially the great actress who played Sara, her last couple of scenes were so powerful, without even lines, she just gave me such an emotional shock by using only her eyes, expressions and body (arms) movements… Really hope more directors would notice her. And definitely a genius way to let audiences to know better about Joel by using the scene which pays tribute to the “red coat girl” in Schindler’s list.… Expand

I had high Hopes for that and man was that awful. It's almost complety rewritten. Serious cut the Name "Last of Us" out of that and it is almost a complety new Franchise. What the Hell happend to Serah, Tommy or Tess?
I go back to the Game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Abby kills Joel in the second game and Ellie let her go when she has the opportunity to kill her and I really hope they will change this part in the TV show because I didn't like it.

Pedro is good as Joel in the show, but something feels weird with Bella as Ellie (also because she looks like she is 20+ years old when she is supposed to be a teenager).

As always, Neil (the creator of the game and show) is focusing more in the wokeism than in the actual show (same for the games).… Expand

From the writing to directing the visuals and acting are all top tier. As a longtime fan of the game, this is about as good as an adaptation as we could have hoped. The introduction sequence completely sold me, so excited to see where the showrunners take it from here.

Great episode. Issue that I, along with seemingly everyone else, had was casting. Pascal is fantastic as Joel. Ramsey is pretty good as Ellie. Joel and Ellie's first interaction is also unintentionally hilarious. Very optimistic about the series.

The atmosphere and environment is almost identical with the game. The sound design is so good, I can hear baby crying and people shouting behind the wall. Nothing to do with the game, bad casting, ellie looks like an egg. I hope that season 2 gets better, in that you can diverge from the game and not kill joel for a chance, maybe that way you can save this series

I am very positively surprised by the first episode of the series. I can't wait for the second episode now. Some scenes and shots were like taken out of the game, which I consider a plus. A convincing picture of the pandemic as well as the cross-section of the community in the quarantine zone. Great scenography of the post-apocalyptic world as well as the presentation of people infected with a fungus. The music is economical, quiet, gentle. The world is empty, dead and dangerous. Of course, I will still return to The Last of Us games someday. Must watch even if you haven't played the game. I recommend.… Expand

We also see Joel in his "boring life" (which we didn't in the game much ) and as a gamer it feels new.

Tense, terrifying, and epic in scale, the rich foundations hold a cast absolutely stacked with talent. All worries about how this landmark experience would translate have been utterly destroyed and, if the creators can keep this balance throughout the run, The Last of Us season one might just become the best video game adaptation ever made, and, like the game before it, set a standard for the medium that others will undoubtedly follow.

An inexplicable experience, a brief introduction to the universe of TLOU [The Last Of Us] but still very grandiose, a plot made with great attention to detail, and that even when it deviates from the main story is great, as for example the story of Sarah [Nico Parker] which is much more in-depth, we also see the great performance of the actors on top of the characters they are playing, like Pedro Pascal [Joel] and Bella Ramsey [Ellie], maybe leaves something to be desired in Tommy [Gabriel Luna] who doesn't it looks as much like the one in the game, but it still brings a charismatic character, maybe even a new way of seeing the character, great scenery with a great special effects direction, mainly the shots and explosions, and also an audio direction well done, it could also be better in relation to the infected, but that can change over the course of the series.… Expand

I only found the scene where they were caught by the Fedra agent at the end a little weird. But I think that was possibly synonymous s.der Camera Perspective. otherwise everything was exceptionally good. the acting performances, the sets, the infected ones shown so far everything is consistent and accurate. Bella Ramsey after a few minutes I recognized Ellie in her. she's doing it perfectly so far as has Joel.… Expand

I like her as an actress, something just doesn't jive there. Maybe a little too much sass and attitude and that she doesn't feel young enough. Ellie had bite but it was a bit more subdued and came out at moments. Bella's Ellie seems to be all sass & attitude, all the time. But maybe she'll grow on me as the show goes on. This episode rocked. Truly and fully. I've been a huge fan of the Last of Us since it came out in 2013-- when I was about 15 years old, almost the same age as Ellie. The game molded me and shaped me. Seeing it come to life the way it has isThis episode rocked. Truly and fully. I've been a huge fan of the Last of Us since it came out in 2013-- when I was about 15 years old, almost the same age as Ellie. The game molded me and shaped me. Seeing it come to life the way it has is incredible. Pedro Pascal is a PERFECT Joel, I really couldn't ask for better. Bella Ramsey, I was hesitant about, but she understands her assignment and role very well, and several times sounded just like Ashley Johnson (Ellie's voice actor in the game). I think she'll be fine. The added scenes for background were great, as well, providing more worldbuilding/setting for people who didn't play the games at all while also providing something fresh for people like me who've played too much. I initially found the casting choices for Sarah, Tommy, and Joel odd, as their ethnicities changed, but that oddness was immediately washed away by how amazing all of their performances were. The ethnicities of these characters really don't matter, their personalities and motivations are what matter, and all the actors captured those things perfectly. Nico Parker was an incredible Sarah, and I now can't picture anyone else playing her. The people making the show clearly loved the game and wanted the characters to feel right, the settings to feel right, the mood to feel right, all of it. Best adaptation I've seen in a very long time, and definitely worth watching even if you've never played the games at all.… Expand
