The Lake is very watchable. Powered by its more than capable cast, the series is perhaps the only show you’ll watch this season with storylines around fish herpes and canoe tilting competitions, season-long arcs about home renovations and family estates, and recurring jokes about Mean Girls and gays’ love-hate relationship with carbs. Which, in a way, makes a perfect summer TV distraction. Read full review

I don't know what I was expecting but between fish-herpes, a slasher-parody episode and roadkill puppeteering lets just say that this show is a fun wild ride. The only thing Canadian about this are the token Canadian flags sprinkled here and there. If this qualifies as "can con" there's something wrong with the regulations. An unimaginative and risk-averse sit-com transposed onto a lake and given some superficial Canadian veneer.
