The Killing Season is more affecting when the filmmakers are sitting in living rooms with men and women who themselves exist on the edge of the law and thus can’t get the police to find out what might’ve happened to their missing or dead loved ones.

Not nearly enough fresh information on the Long Island case, and cluttered with tangents that seem to lead nowhere, The Killing Season still makes its case — a terrifying one.

It’s not until the team travels to Daytona Beach that the tone and focus of their narrative finally shifts away from their narrative’s frustrating superimposed drama and illogical amateur crime-solving theatrics into something more meaningful.

They don’t always make it easy for viewers to keep up as the focus shifts from Gilgo Beach to other places where there have been multiple murders of prostitutes. A bigger flaw is the disingenuousness that pervades the series.
