The Jim Gaffigan Show on TV Land, by far is one of the worst shows ever. I found no humor in it at all. The writers even took a segment from a previous tv commercial and incorporated it into the show. I can't see how people think this is a good comedy. I love comedies and this is sad. His commercials begging people to watch the show are so pathetic. I never saw him as a stand up comic. It seems people love his comedy in those performances. He may be a good comedian, but is just a lousy actor. The other cast members are just as bad as him. I think TV Land is grasping at straws here. Let it go!!! CBS did the right thing by passing on this show. Expand

The first episode of this was really not funny or interesting at all. It's like some kind of family-style attempt at Louie that has no edge and telegraphs all of its (weak) punchlines. Not even a glimmer of interest in persisting with this one.

I like Jim Gaffigan but this show has absolutely zero chance of renewal. This is abysmal. Opening line of the show is the first joke of his latest stand up show. For the first eight episodes, this show is a play-it-safe conversion of Jim Gaffigan's stand up routine into a sitcom format. Then, in the ninth episode, things take a very unexpected turn towards the experimental, and suddenly you're watching a show that seems intent on becoming a spiritual successor to Dan Harmon's Community.

I don't know what caused the transition, but it's a good one. The show it turns into is really a lot of fun, much like Community was at its high points. They start bending reality to do things like explore alternate timelines and break the fourth wall. I'm tempted to provide spoilers as evidence, but I don't want to ruin the surprises. Some of them are so well executed that I couldn't believe I was watching the same show that did an entire story about Jim's obsessive relationship with cake, just a few episodes previous. I can only hope this stays on the air long enough for people to give it a (well deserved) second look.

Absolutely the worst thing I have ever tried to sit through! Not funny AT ALL. Just could not believe it was brought back for a second season. Now these latest references to Jesus Christ are plain offensive and I am not a religious fanatic of any kind. Anyone who enjoys this show really needs to get a life. Nothing has ever prompted me to express my feelings until this guy came along.Absolutely the worst thing I have ever tried to sit through! Not funny AT ALL. This Jim Gaffigan Show seems to be designed for smiles. No complaint with that. It is all about life in the Gaffigan apartment -- one wife and five children. It's like the Duggars without the crowd scene and without -- well, you know. If you have, ever have had, kids you will find this show eminently amusing. I really hope that Jim Gaffigan is exactly like his TV persona. I suspectThis Jim Gaffigan Show seems to be designed for smiles. No complaint with that. I am a big fan of Jim Gaffigan, so I was excited to hear this show was in production. I was bummed when CBS passed, but excited the show gets to live on. It lacks some of the zing and pop that make comedies stand out today. Expand

Great light comedy; full discolure I am a Jim Gaffigan fan, I find his standup to be easy and relateable. Only problem i have is i get grossed out watching Jim Gaffigan constantly eat and be a blob even though hes on TV, but thats who he is right? And it still makes me laugh, I'll watch for sure. Expand

Mostly his adventuress result in stray one-liners and stilted semi-riffs. Imagine a less nourishing Louie or Curb Your Enthusiasm, full of empty calories. [24 Jul 2015, p.54]

Onstage, Gaffigan can be winning as a regular guy. But The Jim Gaffigan Show is merely ordinary.

The Jim Gaffigan Show is a likable and good one--and it gets livelier and more confident as it goes along. It isn’t trying to knock you out by reinventing the form.
