When it comes to back-biting and backstabbing, families are in a class all of their own – and, if nowhere near as wickedly funny as Succession, The Inheritance turned sibling conflict into a cheesy thriller that more than hit the spot.
-
We like the cast of The Inheritance enough to keep watching, but it feels that the show is too distracted by lots of side stories to really concentrate on the mystery at its center.
-
Inheritance is well-tilled soil for TV dramas and this one, while chewy in places with jarring expositional dialogue (“I can’t believe he’s dead. Mum and Dad . . . they’re both gone!”), eked out the intrigue well.
-
The high-grade cast can do only so much with writing that drags its knuckles. Some cheap, cheerless dialogue even has the unsculpted roughness of improv.
