    The Good Place is light hearted comedy at its best. Sure it seems like it should be a lot funnier and perhaps even with better stories but it is a satisfying show to bing watch on a lazy Sunday.

    The first few episodes of The Good Place were fun and original. The vulgar language filter was funny. But after episode 2 it just got sillier and sillier and the jokes mainly of pop culture ‘in’ variety aka not very funny.
    Ted Danson and newcomer Jameele Jamil are very good in their respective roles but Kirsten Bell just doesn't have it for me as a comedy actress.     My favorite new show this season. I love the subtly of the humor, and the performances necessary to make this show are working. Don't know if people in general will like the poking fun at our own society. For me it is a great opportunity to laugh, even at myself.

    At fist I wasn't quite sure but soon into the first episode I realised that this is actually really good. Kristen Bell is so brilliant in this role that she turns what otherwise may have been a too quirky idea into something very engaging. Can't wait to see more!

    This show is an absolute 10. I love the premise. The tale of the infallible, oops. When things go crazy, crazy is what you get. No one could handle this part better than Kristen Bell. She carries the show with her zany antics. Making an imaginative situation believable is harder that it looks. So i credit the actors.     Just finished watching the last episode of this season... WOAO... what a twist!!! This show is funny, smart and completely unpredictable... people that consider this dull stopped watching it after 2-3 episodes but really you have to continue watching the show as it would blow you away at the end of the season... my favorite new show this season...

    Last night I watched the first two episodes with my family and we have all agreed that we are hooked! Although I liked Kristen Bell in Veronica Mars and have enjoyed her in other shows and movies, I wasn't sure if she would be able to pull off being the lead character.     I wanted to see this show, It should be good because of Ted Danson. Well I was wrong, the show needs a lot of work to fix it. I know Ted believes in the show, but it's not there yet.

    This show was so much sassier than I imagined it'd be when first tuning in, it confused me at first, but I found it to be such a funny little show I looked forward to it each week, and for it's return after the mid winter break. So glad it's been renewed for a second season. Time for another spin.

    I thought this was going to be a good show. WOW someone went to the good place that wasn't suppose to, had to make for good television. BOY WAS I WRONG. It was the most insane thing I have seen on television lately. I was hoping for something better with Ted Danson. Oh well probably will be gone in a month

    I flipped to the channel expecting to be over it in 2 minutes and turn it off, but I couldn't stop watching. Kristen Bell is fantastic. I hope it doesn't get cancelled.

    What a delightful show! Through 4 episodes I view each one with a perpetual smile on my face. Many laugh out load moments and plenty of unexpected turns along the way. Bell and Dansen have perfectly pitched performances and our entire family has just loved this so far. I would normally go 9-9.5 on this, but the show is so damn charming that I ended up clicking on 10!

On one hand, I like the concept, but on the other hand, I think that a few of the characters have a dumb role in the show. How the show is in the most basic of terms, is that a lady named Eleanor dies, and enters the afterlife. The catch is that she is sent to "The Good Place" (Thus the name of the show.) even though she was a terrible person on Earth, thinks somebody who as Eleanor says,"Royally forked up." (Because in her neighborhood, swearing is disabled.) The actors feel like they were drained of their full potential, especially Jianyu who (In my opinion) has a stupid backstory for his reason of death. Kristen Bell and Ted Danson did a fairly OK job with their roles (Which don't have too much potential, thanks to the roles.) though it does need some work. I do like the idea of Janet being everybody's personal assistant in The Good Place, though. I would have given this show a 4, but I like all shows with an afterlife theme, but I do feel like they have to resort to drugs and some sexual stuff once in while, making the show not exactly too funny.     I had high hopes for this show and have watched every episode. Unfortunately, it is not very funny. The premise is already growing tired and the characters are just kind of boring. The best you get out of The Good Place is one or two mild chuckles per episode. Honestly, has this show ever inspired an out-of-control belly laugh? Probably not.

    I can sum up this show in one word: DUMB.

    There was nothing entertaining at all during the premier episode. Ted Danson's character came off as some TV pitchman for a used car dealership. My prediction: This show will go to Heck before Xmas

    It shouldn't be so hard to follow or understand a comedy show, let alone its concept. This isn't clever or even challenging, its annoying and unlikeable. These folks are apparently in a form of "purgatory" because they can't carry a comedy show...and is my bet for the first cancellation of the season.

    What a goofy show. It tries hard to be surreal, clever, and amusing, but fails on all counts. Bell is easy on the eyes and Danson is as competent as usual, but that's it. I can't believe the positive reviews and trust this turkey will meet its demise before Thanksgiving.

Seriously, what is wrong with the critics falling all over themselves praising this turkey? Must be the Parks and Rec creator lineage. The Good Place is one of the worst shows I have seen.     I have enjoyed many movies set in 'heaven' such as Defending Your Life and Heaven Can Wait. And the good versus evil of Capra, Preston Sturgess movies et al. But I find this, irritating, and one dimensional. It's like watching a pantomime. I know the main character is supposed to be annoying, but it's so much so I can't watch. It's a miss for me.

    Simply put, It's a very well written and funny show. The cast does such a great job at selling their characters but it's really the top-notch writing that ties it all together.

    An amusing show which takes karma but not reincarnation for granted. Kristen Bell could do more than simply read lines I feel. Ted plays along gamefully adding as much as he can.

    It is a great show, I enjoyed watching it very much and look forward to watch more. However, very risky for network TV, just hope people keep watching it. A great comeback for Ted Danson and another quality show from Schur (creator of Nine Nine and Parks and Recs.)

    Most original show (comedy) this year. Good twist. Always trying new stuff. The season finale was very good! It´s not the classic "Two and a half men" show, that´s why it may not be suited to some people. But if you like to try something different and already watch Veep, please what it. And of course Ted and Kirsten rules.

    I am not seeing TGP as a typical sitcom, because it's not. It's so fresh and unusual, that its humor isn't truly established yet. The setting (and consequently the story) is so untypical and pleasant, that you can easily "get lost" watching it. In a good way.

    The cast, led by Ted Danson (who brilliantly masters at comedy) and Kristen Bell (one of the most pleasant actresses ever) is very humorous and likable. Their respective characters are well - built and full of charisma.

    Michael Schur (The Office, Parks and recreation) brought us an early - Christmas gift. The Good Place is really good. On one side it's so light - hearted and on the other it promotes good values and good behavior. It's optimistic. And a good dose of optimism is what we all need.    … Expand

    Interesting concept for a show. I don't think it is an Albert Brooks ripoff. Then every afterlife show would be but it was amusing, made me laugh and I enjoyed both episodes. OK I watch anything with Kristen Bell in it but I am looking forward to the next episode. I am curious if they can pull this off and keep it new. I can't see that this does not grow old after awhile.

    I thought the pilot was missing something but I kept watching because of the cast. And the characters have grown on me, I couldn't really care if it isn't the type of comedy that gives you gas from laughing. It's delightfully charming, hearty and comforting -- qualities that made NBC comedies great. It's about time to take the sitcom reign again, and The Good Place was the right start.

    Just finished watching all the episodes. This show is funny, charming and inventive. It is a perfect escape from the election and everything else. Kristen Bell is terrific and the whole cast is great. We laughed a lot watching it. I read that it is the work of the person who created Parks and Rec and I see the connection. I haven't liked a comedy as much as this since 30 Rock.

    Best new show on TV. Ted Danson and Kristen Bell work magnificently together. Some might feel that the show pokes fun at the major religion's however it should not be viewed in this light. Albert Brooks wrote and directed a movie called "Defending Your Life"; this show reminds me of the that movie. I find myself laughing out loud which is great.

    Even when the after life stories are not new this show has some touches of originality with its aesthetic of fairy tale and its allusions to philosophic theories . it is not hilarious but it makes you smile and also think .

    This series just gets better and better - really clever jokes that span multiple episodes and just enjoyable to watch.

    Worth watching at least the first few episodes to see if it takes your fancy.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Available on Netflix, I started that show as I do for any (likely) bad show they are using to fill their offer : doing the dishes, vacuum-cleaning, ... while having a voice in the background.
    After a few minutes, all i heard was just a cheesy story with goofy humor and some incoherence.
    By the time I finished my chores, the ever increasing inconsistencies triggered a memory from a piece of Jean Paul Sartre that loosely translates to "Hell is other people" and bet that something mischievous was happening so my curiosity made me watch some more (with a lot of fast-forwarding). In the end, I watched 2 seasons and got a few smiles from it (a pretty rare event coming from a show). I would not say the show is good, I even feel some guilt watching something this stupid, but it's good enough. Better that most of what is on Netflix anyway.    … Expand

    Like nothing before on television, The Good Place is a witty and original comedy which will make you laugh out loud. Ted Danson and Kristen Bell are brilliant and the supporting cast is very promising. With funny and smart writing, terrific twists and turns, binge-watching is irresistible.

    My new favorite show! It's an insightful concept that is used for both philosophical intrigue and witty sarcasm. It's not often you get Hume covered in a comedy. Each episode up's the ante with character development and exploring the mechanics of the world. Way fun and deviously hilarious

    Typical network sitcom drivel. Tepid jokes, performed with a perfunctory speed to make the 22 minute mark. If critics gave it high reviews its because when it comes to networks the pickings are slim so in comparison it's somewhat better than the other sitcoms.

    I liked this show a lot. I won't start ranting about how much I loved it, I just found it very enjoyable to watch, like a nice warm cup of tea. It has a very peculiar sense of humour but one that works and very lovable characters. The twist (you know the one I'm talking about) is well pulled off and I have to say, I would not have seen that coming.

    The first ten episodes were actually torture, I almost stopped watching. But I must admit, the twist and the last three episodes were well-written and suspenseful. Ted Danson is always good, the supporting characters were generic but interesting, and Kristen Bell was, well, decent. She's not my favorite actress. The jokes and comedy in The Good Place is just not funny ever, like actually never.

    Nice show to watch, i'm five episodes in and i'm really enjoying it and seeing how Kristen Bell and William Harper's characters have developed together and become closer in the show. Its has been an easy watch as well, i can't wait to see the rest of it.

    Vi o piloto e fiquei completamente rendido à produção. Vi as duas temporadas num dia e meio. Apesar de as personagens não terem sido as melhores pessoas na Terra, consegui apegar-me a elas, pois estas foram brilhantemente exploradas. Os plots são muito interessantes e a comédia está bem presente em quase todas as cenas.

    a bit off beat and at times lacking this adventurous comedy is an excitingly new take on the after life that despite requiring a few episodes to fully establish itself can be a bit entertaining once and a while.

I am not a really big TV enthusiast, and I don't watch that many TV shows and get really absorbed in it, except for The Flash and Doctor Who (I'm a nerd, deal with it). However, when I watched The Good Place, I instantly got absorbed in it. I never binge watch TV shows, but this was one of the few exceptions. I also loved the fact that the actors never cursed, but they had funny replacements for common curse words. GREAT JOB!… Expand

I found that whilst the premise was interesting and novel I didn't find it that funny for a comedy show. However, the twist at the end is masterful and has reinvigorated my interest in next season.

    This is the type of show that makes me appreciate Netflix (and streaming in general) as it fills a pretty niche spot and it likely wouldn't have been given a chance on network TV. It's far from the greatest thing in the world but it's original and that level of creativity should be respected imo.    … Expand

    Such a great show! It has heart, good character development and a very creative story. I think the cast did a great job and even the characters I didn’t care for as much early on ended up growing on me. I’m looking forward to watching season 2!

    A series pilot has to walk a rather tricky line of setting up a series premise, giving a hint of things to come, and, you know, being entertaining. As far as pilots go, NBC's The Good Place (from Parks and Creation co-creator Michael Schur) hits it out of the park with all of the above-not to mention some honest to goodness earned laughter.
