What I was hoping to see at the start of season three was Barry Allen living in a world where his parents were alive; Eobard Thawne behind bars and Barry's relationship with Iris moving forward while protecting the public as "The Flash". What also would have been great story lines was the return of the 'real' Harrison Wells and Barry's girlfriend Patty. That didn't happen. Instead Barry goes back in time again to make things as they were. Another pet peeve of mine is that the character of Barry Allen is turning into this whining brooding personality that reminds me of Bruce Wayne except with speed. Also I've grown very tired of the Earths 2-3-4 whatever. That scenario was played to death during season 2. Please lets not do it again this season. Hopefully, as season three progresses, the personalities of the show's characters will return to what they once were, especially Barry Allen. It was the constant changing of the characters and story lines that made me stop watching "The Arrow." I don't wish to see that happen with "The Flash."

Not that good of a start, for people who know the flashpoint storyline this did not live up to its name at all. Only bright spot is that everything was not fixed and thawne did something before coming back to the present so it'll be interesting moving forward to see what Barry can fix.

To say the least, I'm underwhelmed. First off, their adaption of Flashpoint is at best a huge disappointment. Second, I just think this season started off boring, wit very little indication of where the season will go from here. I think the Flash may have already peaked.

So, Flash Season 3 probably presents the weakest of its seasons so far. After two very good seasons, The flash decided in season 3 to go into a more dark and dramatic turn, making the whole season about regrets and the limits a hero can go to prevent those he loves from suffering. After two very good seasons, The flash decided in season 3 to go into a more dark and dramatic turn, making the whole season about regrets and the limits a hero can go to prevent those he loves from suffering. And while the acting is still very good, unfortunately I think tha the theme of the season doesn't work well with how this show had been working so far. It's not that the story of the season is bad per se, only that the dark and moody tone is more of Arrow's turf and Flash had always maintained a more whimsy tone. Also working against it is the forgettable (or at least at first) main villain, the not so good character development for some of its supporting cast, and more than a few episodes that felt totally not necessary for the season. On the other hand, the episodes that were good really maintain and confirm that this show can be very good to even excellent when it wants, both with good character drama (loved the Killer Frost parts) and goofy parts (King Shark!!). So in general, with a lot of bad to mixed parts with some good to very good parts, this season ends up being... OK, enough to keep me engaged for another one, but probably putting it at the bottom of the CW superhero shows for this season. Hopefully the show can return to the roots that served it so well in the first seasons and bounce back in season 4. Recommended for fans, but if you have very selected time, maybe just watch the crossovers and other of the better shows this season (Legends of Tomorrow!!!) Expand

The series works hard to be the antithesis of it's brother show ARROW...Lighter, more positive, and closer to the feel of its source material. The cast is excellent and the entire Rogues' Gallery is slowly being introduced. The ideas behind Flashpoint allow it to become a rallying point for the entire DC TV family. Waiting for the Thunder Twins to become part of the fun!

Probably it would`ve be much better if The Flash would consists of 8-13 episodes per season, as there`s too much stupidity when extending this series to +22 episodes..................NEXT !!!

Their inability to properly comprehend a paradox is a common issue in Hollywood, as is the techo-babble tossed at the screen to explain what they are doing, while desparately trying to ignore how it cannot actually be accomplished. But season three took all that, sapped all the joy out of the show, and handed us a steaming pile of illogical nonsense. This simple knowledge of whom Savitar is, and how he came to be, easily invalidates his existance. What are they on, and when will it be outlawed? Expand

Although this season is still fun with the introduction of Kid Flash and Jessie Quick, the more sober tone and the dragging out of the consequences of Flashpoint makes this season feel less fun and exciting than previous seasons. The Flash shifts its focus from action into developing its characters, which creates for a more involving third season that still doesn’t let go of the fun of the first two seasons.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Season 1 ended with dealing with the consequences of saving his mom in the finale, and he came to terms with her death and recognizing the costs were just too high for one life even his mom's. Season 2 dealt with the guardians of even small uses of time travel (time wraiths, temporal shockwaves), and even had a whole spin off series about the consequences of time travel. season 3's first episode is about flash having a perfect life free of all the previous consequences of saving his mom, the only issue is that he will forget who he was in the alternate timeline and end up being permanently the new version of himself. he decides that the consequences of such is too high a price (same conclusion as season 1), and changes it back (same as season 1, again). he then remembers everything and things don't 'cement' making him forget about the other timeline (like at the first episode of the season). The whole season is dealing with the consequences of undoing the timeline he was in at the first episode, via a villain created by a causal loop (he existed, thus he was created by flash to defeat him), and at the end of the series there is a speed force guardian which is dispatched with ease (unlike last time he showed up in the previous seasons). at the end of the season they trap the flash 'for all of eternity' which will mean either another retcon for season 4 or a season without flash. basically they wrote themselves into another corner.

The show used to be the best out of the DC shows, and it seems they are getting better, though whoever has the show for season 4 needs to sit down and actually watch the other seasons and figure out how to bring things all into line with some sort of consistency so they don't have to retcon everything every season, though to be fair thinking things through is not a strength for most shows and given at how far out there sci-fi is this means that bad writing is much more apparent in sci-fi.

Retains the inertia of previous seasons, with new allies and foes, including the premise of Flashpoint, inspired in original story from comics. The final chapter has clever plot twist and develops the same expectation for next season.

Season 3 is where things started getting a lot more annoying. Barry travelled back in time to create The Flashpoint Paradox (no, it's nothing even close to being as good as the graphic novel or the animated movie was). Barry travelled back in time to create The Flashpoint Paradox (no, it's nothing even close to being as good as the graphic novel or the animated movie was). Because of this John had a son instead of a daughter, everyone was upset from their interpersonal conflicts (read keeping secrets from each other) and Cisco's brother Dante had died. Now Cisco is suddenly very snobby all the time and he wastes a lot of runtime crying about Dante, until a crossover episode of Legends of Tomorrow where he finally makes the same mistake and decides to forgive Flash who was going to sacrifice himself because it's a rule that the character who has been wronged for so long will decide to leave just before everyone learns it's not his fault. So this time the bad guy is Savitar who, just like Zoom, wants to kill all the speedsters out there. So Barry keeps knowing about the future where Savitar kills Iris and he isn't able to run fast enough to save her. Finally when he beats Savitar multiple speedforce portals open and Barry leaves the team to go in them. Expand

Although “Flashpoint” might disappoint fans who were hoping that the show might try something a bit more ambitious upfront, it does set up what could turn out to be a standout season for The Flash.
