Somewhere in this big pile of plot is a potentially enjoyable series, if the producers can figure out how to balance the week-to-week procedural elements of McDeere's court cases with the overarching mystery of his new associates' sinister secrets.
-
The action moves at an admirable clip and the cases feel interesting enough so we want to see how they come out.
-
The Firm is tedious but not terrible; whether it will be watchable depends, one, on how much you like legal procedurals and, two, how the ongoing McDeeres-in-jeopardy plot is handled in future episodes.
-
Lucas is actually quite good as Mitch, as is Molly Parker as his wife, Abby. The issue lies more with the mechanics of the plot.
-
These cases don't come together so much as they suggest a formula.
-
The Firm at this point doesn't offer much on its own.
-
Silly, but let's take the glass half-full approach. There's nowhere to go but up.
-
NBC's version of The Firm is shaky at best.
-
The series is a pretty good metaphor for the original law firm: outwardly slick and polished, but with a hollow core.
-
The Firm tries to marry case-of-the-week stories with a conspiracy plot. It doesn't succeed.
