A series that doesn't have great pretensions and that is very urban in concept. Maybe that's why it's so interesting.

It's just bland for pretty much every episode but the concept of John Walker is really good. Shame they reverse it by the finale.

Changed my mind about the show. It's average, although the climax is disappointing. John Walker is the strongest aspect of the show.

The whole story-line and setup was amazing, the Action scenes right from the start was awesome
the starting episodes specially the 3rd episode the whole madripor and Zemo story it was entertaining, zemo literally stole the show, the wakhandan apperance and little references with little plot lines like the boat, the bucky's diary and old mans story with the sharon's story at end it was amazingly handled and it was fun. the whole fight to the mantle of cap was little childish even though the blip is answer yet felt like "why" specially the whole juggling/fight between john walker and falcon. the john walker persona labeling anti human in a nationalist was problamatic although the starting as annyoing character and ending like respectful it was amazing. Coming to whole falg smasher grp it was like they represent communism although sugercoated, the last episode was literally utter s##t the whole lecture of falcon specially the "terrorist" word framing as a slang, literally what should we call em rebels it was non-sense and the framing of the girl as rebel died for a cause making the feeling of sympathy for her even after a moment ago she was about to kill it was clear propaganda. the whole show was fun and entertaining but with literal propaganda!

In the beginning I was a little sceptical from watching this, since all MCU fanboys were saying that this is the best superhero show ever (meanwhile Doom Patrol and The Boys are laughing in a corner), and we know exactly what their track record has been. So I was expecting this to be only good enough to be expanded into multiple seasons, and that it has only used BLM as a plot tool (I didn't know the context back then, so I was expecting it to be something around that). But now that I have seen it, it may not be as good as WandaVision or Loki, but it does what it was meant to do - Action.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is not very different from a Captain America movie, except there is a different Captain America this time around - John Walker. Falcon gave away Steve's shield to the US government and they in turn made Walker the new Captain America. Bucky is very upset because of this, since Captain's shield meant a lot to him. Meanwhile he is trying to get himself medical help to get rid of his PTSD. They both team up because Bucky wanted some adventure and together they go after an insurgent group called The Flag Smashers.
The show, just like Black Widow and Captain Marvel, is extremely divisive. Either you will love it or you will hate it. There is nothing in between. I liked it for the CGI, action scenes and the sense of humour. The plot, however, was pretty generic. The cinematography also wasn't something really unique, although the CGI scenes really made it look good. The return of Baron Zemo was also pretty fun to watch. He as a character completely steals the show while he is in it. There is also Okoye, who wants to capture Zemo so that he can be put to trial for T'Chaka's murder. I don't really like watching the Wakandans and they feel a little out of place here, so that wasn't that much fun either (other than the fight scene between Okoye and John Walker).
The last episode was one long action sequence, which was really fun to watch until Karli started to get shown as an important character. I really wanted her to die, since she was so annoying. The new Captain America was introduced in the last episode, and although the new Cap looks way cooler than the one we're used to seeing, it ruins the thing that made Captain America so much fun to see. Captain America is supposed to be one ordinary man with a shield. He only has a shield because his other arm is no less than a sword. But the new Captain America has wings, exhaust pipe and visors. That makes his shield absolutely useless.
I'm pretty sure this will have a season 2, and I'm already really excited to watch it. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is a fun show to watch. Overall it has the same advantages and disadvantages as a generic MCU movie. I really appreciate they made this, which now makes us care more about Sam and Bucky, who had until now only lived in Steve's shadow. Let's see what they will have to offer next.

After the clever and original Wandavision this is a slight step back for Disney+ and Marvel. The story isn't as original it does revert back to the same style of storytelling as most of the MCU.

Not perfect but good entertainment with a slower / weaker beginning to be fair. It is character driven and deals with the aftermath of Avengers Endgame and Infinity War in a global (=political) and personal scale. This is also surprising as in the comics nearly no event has a lasting effect on the world (Status quo from before is re-archived at the next issue no matter the impact or damages). It is set approx 6 months after endgame. All themes for the story and characters are relatable. I can understand all characters motivations, struggles, doubts and reasoning. The character interactions and development are strong and genuine. For this alone the season is worth watching. I am hesitant to give a set up for the overall story as the worldbuilding was truly good. Lets say Infinity War had some unexpected (but logical) positive effects for mankind. Then the world has changed again with the conclusion of Endgame and the fallout is harsh and cruel especially for the small (voiceless) people. The worldbuilding and pacing of the story is well done (The start is a bit slow for my taste). The characters are magnificent. Lets start with Anthony Mackie as the Falcon who struggles after being handed over the mantle or better said shield of Captain America and with financial problems of his family (Being a superhero is not that well paid). Bucky Barnes played by Sebastian Stan is still haunted by his past as Winter Soldier and is searching for forgiveness / redemption. Both work quite well and have a good chemistry together. Sometimes even like an old couple mad at each other;-). Awesome performance supported by a strong script. It continues with the rest of the equally strong cast. Wyatt Russel as John Walker is an excellent character (cant go into details because of spoilers) with Cle Bennett as Lemar Hoskins as his support (Yin to his yang). Erin Kellyman as Karli Morgenthau became one of my favorite characters and delivers a flawless performance. Daniel Brühl is back as Helmut Zemo. A remarkable performance and one of the most interesting characters as he is unpredictable. I want to also praise Adepero Oduye as Sarah Wilson, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradlex and Julia Louis-Dreyfous as Valetina Allegra de Fontaine. I think I stop here and say the whole cast from main to side to one time characters is excellent. One of the best cast I have seen in a while especially for a first season (A lot of shows suck at season one or improve a lot with later seasons). So many good characters, genuine development and relatable interactions. Also some new facets will be explored. It ends not there as the fight scenes are well choreographed. You can feel the impact and those were always intense and immersive. The effects look nice especially the scenes were Falcon can use his wings for full capacity. I should praise the writers for their ideas and creating such good character moments / development. There are some negatives however. Like I already mentioned it starts a bit slow. Bucky as Winter Soldier feels under-powered compared to before or lets say his prowess is downgraded. Finally there is that argument that some characters are different from before or feel different. In hindsight I agree but had thought that time and the changed world had its effect on them. In total I say these are not that serious. Overall this is definitely something I want to see more of. It earned its 8/10 with the interesting story, well done characters and moral ambiguity despite some minor weaknesses. An easy recommendation and I am hyped for season 2. Expand

Further, and this may not be a problem for fans of the marvel universe, you have to have seen previous iterations of marvel universe because it spends time referencing captain america and such things that you dont really know what the hell they talking about unless you seen those shows (and I hadn't, so it felt kinda pointless and empty, as a viewer I felt marginalized by that, as if the show wasnt meant to be for me).

If fractional score was possible I would rate it it a 6.7, but since that is not possible I'll have to go with 6. Im not going to give this one a 7 im afraid.

Watch it for the action; do your best to ignore the plot and dialogue. Don't think about character arcs; they're either absent or self-contradictory and hollow. Just look at the punching. It's a show about punching. It should have had maybe 20 lines of dialogue in the whole first season.

First and foremost, it is well-executed and with a bizarrely relevant storyline considering the covid-related events of the last year (I think it even invoked phrases like the 'The New Normal' in this show). However, I think it could be accused of being the same old Marvel despite this.

I feel like I'm very much in two minds with regards to this show. First and foremost, it is well-executed and with a bizarrely relevant storyline considering the covid-related events of the last year (I think it even invoked phrases like the 'The New Normal' in this show). However, I think it could be accused of being the same old Marvel despite this.

It's a tricky predicament as I feel the subject matter it addressed (A black Captain America) is kinda surprising given anything about race can be such a polarising subject (I mean without even looking I can tell that half the negative reviews are gonna be from whiny manbabies who think that anything even vaguely discussing racism is pandering to libs - idc if this is a strawman btw sue me) and I normally associate Disney with playing it as safe as possible. However, I still felt that occasionally it slipped into paying lip-service rather than really discussing issues. It felt like it was torn between being your standard superhero show whilst also attempting to explore America's relationship with race and I felt it would occasionally struggle with these two conflicting aims.

Outside of this, I am huge fan of the action in this. I was quite critical of how the action in WandaVision (the previous MCU show I watched) felt lacklustre especially in the final episode. The fights in this reminded me of a slightly more PG version of the Netflix Marvel shows (Daredevil etc.). This is a really good thing as I personally feel that the Netflix shows had some of the best action in any Marvel-related properties.

I think that, ultimately, it gets a six as it is very par for the course for Marvel on an overall level. I am a big fan of the fact that they didn't sidestep the discussion of a black Captain America but I'm not sure if this is enough of a difference to really warrant it being given a higher score - other shows like Luke Cage or Black Lightning have also dicussed black superhero issues so this show is not like a fresh, fresh perspective. Probably still worth watching if you're an MCU fan but otherwise not a must-see.

It all plays out well in showing the transition of Sam Wilson in the wake of Captain America's passing from Falcon to Captain America (not really a spoiler - it's all over the place and in the comics). The journey is interesting and focuses on good villains that spiral themselves out of control and become the things they swear to fight against - irony at its finest. The series also seems to be setting up a/the big villain for the "Phase 4" set of MCU content which makes this fairly important stuff to watch through. Don't forget to watch the end credit scene at the end of episode 6.

What really hurt the series for me was the unnecessary virtue signalling that occurs heavily in episode 5, and a bit in episode 6. Disney made some things about race and citizenship status - two obvious tropes in the real world that are controversial and not simple. Sam's comments on the immigration/nationalist ideas weren't necessarily wrong but they felt gradoise - over the top, that felt like it was intentionally being force fed to the audience both in the series and you and I watching at home. I didn't care for that at all and am becoming worried that Disney is trying to change the beauty of the MCU and force us to not have that escapism and instead being drilled with their attempt at appearing as the "good guys" of Hollywood by sucking up and pretending they're somehow "one of us". They're disconnected millionaires that live in a different world and I don't appreciate them all trying to make fools of us by shoving idealistic garbage down our throats at times and making race-based jabs for a series that isn't really about race. Not even Black Panther was so overtly controversial like this series is in a couple small spots. I enjoyed the series. I would have enjoyed it more without the droning politicking here and there. The Captain America shield made for the best story to follow, in my opinion, and anchored the short series. It was nice to see Bucky get some good airtime too as a good guy dealing with real problems as opposed to knowing him mostly as The Winter Soldier.

When a terrorist group, known as The Flag Smashers, arises he is pulled back into action as The Falcon alongside a recently pardoned Bucky Barnes who is attempting to make amends for his actions as The Winter Soldier.

Despite the disappointing finale, it was great to see Marvel/Disney trying something different with WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Solider is a much more standard fare however, even if it is still relatively entertaining for the most part. The huge budget is often in evidence in the sorts of actions sequences you’d previously only see in blockbuster movies (although some of the direction during fight sciences is a little jarring) and the two leads have a natural chemistry.

Unfortunately, with it’s slightly meandering plot, and unimaginative ‘super soldier’ enemies it can often feel as though you’re watching one of the more mediocre MCU movies drawn out over a five hour running time. As a result, this series only really serves to act as a stop gap to tide viewers over until the next set of movies begin to appear in cinemas, rather than standing as a particularly noteworthy piece of entertainment in its own right.

Even more so given rumoured reshoots/rewriting to remove a virus storyline that may have made for an uncomfortable watch given the pandemic. Sam and Bucky's chemistry throughout is pitch perfect. Bucky seeking redemption, Sam feeling the weight of expectation. Walker's rise and descent is so well played. Every scene with Bradley is exceptional and painfully relevant. There will be complaints that this is playing up to current events and "trying to be too woke" but for me it landed perfectly. Bringing real world issues into this fictional universe without pandering or sugar coating. My only criticism is the reveal of the power broker, felt a bit on the nose but other than that this show was fun, exhilarating, charming and so so relevant.
