It offers an exciting setup for many larger stories to come, while also providing plenty of intrigue on its own thanks to the way it handles its story. This post-apocalyptic story just might be Netflix's best in a long time.

The creepiness of the unknown enemy in The Eternaut is what drives this show, even as Salvo and other survivors get together to try to fight whoever it is they’re fighting, and we’re here for it.

[Series creator Bruno] Stagnaro has made one major concession to contemporary preferences, and while you can’t blame him — he’s just doing what every streaming adaptation does — it’s a choice that makes the series more ordinary than it needs to be.

The Eternaut is a chilling apocalyptic tale that's more than capable of sweeping you up into its story, with an at-times trudging narrative that somehow knows exactly when to sprinkle in the right twist to keep you watching.

The TV series’s creator Bruno Stagnaro tells this story slowly, following protagonist Juan Salvo (Ricardo Darin) and the trusted team he assembles as they gradually adjust to their new reality (and inch toward learning how it came to be), minute by minute and day by day. But about halfway through this first season, the science-fiction action intensifies, with some wild twists and spectacular special effects.
