This is a show for the petite English bourgeoisie that can only afford a two-week trip to the overcrowded Costa del Sol in August.
Why do the critics love this show? My Big Beautiful Greek Wedding or whatever that disgusting movie name was is more realistic than this over-the-top stereotyped romantic view of a "natural" Greece. The British characters are barely more interesting.

Destitution has never been quite as appealing as it is in The Durrells in Corfu, the latest slice of picturesque Anglophilia from “Masterpiece.” The six-episode series is escapist entertainment in the most literal sense.

The series has the sophistication of PBS’s “Downton Abbey,” only with more laughs. There is something quite modern about the Durrells without it feeling false.

This sunny and touching yarn feels like just what we need in these angst-ridden days.
