The show is overcrowded with mysteries, mysteries that may be intentionally but seem quite unintentionally muddy. In other words, The Collection is, like so much high fashion, great to look at but harder to live in.

While often a sumptuous watch, it too often strays into the gaudy.

The murky and unnecessary string of overwrought mysteries makes it sadly skippable.

The Collection can be pretty to look at, but first impressions will not lead to second glances.

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. I love shows about fashion so I wanted to really like this series. While I found the subject matter and the setting interesting enough, the writing was uneven, the characters simply drawn and the plot-lines overwrought with too many mysterious loose ends. Mr Goldstick can sometimes write interesting dialogue, but too often his story development skips steps or seems to come from an unknown motivation. He might have been better served by limiting his storylines to the Sabine families indiscretions during the war and how their collaboration with the Nazi's provided the impetus, desire
and motivation for them to create a fashion house which sought to both insulate and promulgate a societal change in post WWII Paris. That having been said, the style of the show outshone the substance and the acting was uniformly good. Worth a watch, but keep expectations at bay
