The Blacklist stands on James Spader's performance and for that reason it's always entertaining. This spin-off however has no one of that caliber - just wooden actors. Best avoided.

"The Blacklist: Redemption" is not quite an originality, but it works just fine by giving a wider look into this world it created. Despite the lack of changes to bring some fresh content into the story, the formula is suitable to provide a good amount of action.

Within the first five minutes of the new crew assembling; I was convinced I was watching little more than an update of "MISSION IMPOSSIBLE". Over the top, and little of the mystery that makes Blacklist watchable.

No. No no no NO! This is NOT what NBC should produce out of a masterpiece that is Blacklist.

They just some fringe characters from Blacklist to put together the flattest single-layer cliche characters who are now members of a supposedly ragtag group of operatives, flowing with the usual arrogant over-confident quips you would expect from C-class spy-genre wannabe directors who don't

Plot is already obvious and badly setup, team members have the same depth and personality of your average aquarium goldfish, motivation of the show characters is weak at best. And relateability? non-existent.

You now have Good Blacklist, crappy Blacklist, and this crappy new Blacklist desperately needs... Redemption, from this joke of a premiere.

"Redemption" cannot hold a candle to the original "Blacklist". "Redemption is just an attempt by the show's producers to keep the franchise going after James Spader and company either call it quits or "Blacklist" is cancelled.

I think they failed with Tom as the anchor the spinoff series, I think they could have done better with Matais Solomon as the anchor, as they had already developed some depth in his character on The Blacklist.
Tom was always just a "prop" character for lack of better word.
I'll watch, just to see how they try an save the "titanic" of a spinoff. Who knows, maybe the producers, writers,

Another pointless spin-off that easily ranks with Beyond Borders in terms of how dire it is. My prediction is that this series will die quietly after the first series. In reality though what needs to happen is for someone to take it around the back now and put it out of our misery with a double-tap to the head.

Let me start by saying, this is not the blacklist. More like a rehash of action series seen formulated to drive the tension: without any character or much of a story. Its bland, stupid at best, and I will not bother with another episode.

Strip The Blacklist of its charismatic lead and clever plotting and you are left with the empty husk of this spinoff. The simplistic linear plotting relies too heavily on posing obstacles for the leads then overcoming them with far too simple - and not believable - solutions. The simplistic linear plotting relies too heavily on posing obstacles for the leads then overcoming them with far too simple - and not believable - solutions. (Hey, need to get through a tight security system? Just steal an access card.) The two leads are bland and uninteresting on their own, and Janssen's character simply makes no sense to me. Further, the interaction between her and Eggold ("Tom") is creepy, given their relationship. As the writers and producers become more desperate, as they inevitably will, perhaps they will breach the TV taboo of incest to generate some hype. I mean, anything goes, right?? Expand

What a total waste of time, Unbelievable childish spy action, I cannot believe this has been allowed to use the Blacklist name. Shame on the producers of this 2nd rate Rubbish.

I started watching this show, with no prior knowledge of "The Blacklist". I think it is semi-good. I'm not entirely sure how NBC is going to be able to do a season 2 of this show, after one of the biggest questions all season, was answered. I think NBC needs to focus on other areas of its lineup. I am a big Blacklist fan and wasn't expecting to like Redemption as much as I did. I love this show and I adore this Team. This Team working for Scottie is so much fun!! The bantering between Tom and Sol is hilarious. This show is worth watching and I hope the network renews. The plus about Blacklist Redemption is that there is no Reddington character that dominates the show. TheI am a big Blacklist fan and wasn't expecting to like Redemption as much as I did. Blacklist: Redemption is a sturdy show built on a smart premise.

The real question for The Blacklist: Redemption’s future success is whether or not Janssen and Eggold will be able to carry a title that has been, until now, entirely dependent on Spader’s magnetism. Based on the premiere, it seems unlikely--Tom is not even the second-most interesting character from “The Blacklist,” and Scottie’s mystique makes it hard to feel intimately connected to her character.
