The most astonishing takeaway from this entire ordeal may be that justice is often jeopardized by legal rules and regulations that stand in opposition to basic notions of fairness and logic.

Randolph is a purely obnoxious character, but engrossing. He is cocky, a know-it-all who has a pat response to every accusation and who wears the worst mullet in the history of haircuts. But he is genuinely enigmatic, and “Black Widower” wisely leads its viewers along, ever wondering whether the subject could possibly be innocent or, just as likely, that the loopholes he long used to exploit the legal system will bail out, one last time, his seemingly remorseless self.
