Is probably the funniest tv serial in some years. Is easy that the "not geek" people can't understand some jokes but is a very good option with one of the best characters in years, Sheldon.

Best new sitcom on TV at the moment. This sort of show (which alienates as many as it embraces) is bound to divide critics. Not surprisingly, the fans give it high scores.... and... yes... I'm a fan!

I love this show. While, it could definitely function without some of the sexual innuendo, it is the kind of show that I miss from when I was growing up in the 90s. One that's fun but doesn't cause you to think too hard while watching. Just laugh with the audience.

I just spent the last few weeks watching entire first and second seasons of this show. I love it. I think Chuck Lorre finally got the mix of characters and situation that works well with the comedy writing. Granted it isn't cutting edge, make you think, laugh two hours later when you finally get the joke, comedy. I admit it is fluff comedy, but it is good fluff comedy. Can this show get any funnier? I even laugh when I hear Howard's mother screaming from another room. I laugh from start to finish as this ensemble cast is simply the best. They're not just stock nerds, they are good and entertaining characters. Also you should understand at least some of the science. The situations in this show aren't funny. It's the characters and the way they interact and interpret things that is funny. In season 2 especially, there were several laugh-out-loud moments per episode. Jim Parsons as Sheldon steals the show, Johnny Galeki (Leonard) and Kaley Cuoco (Penny) are also excellent. The first three seasons were nearly perfect. Season four and later, everything starts to deteriorate. It's still a better show than average, but not by a lot. There is a stronger female presence, which I'm sure was done primarily to even out the men and women for the viewers that thought that it was a guy's show. It wasn't. The addition of these characters (namely Amy and Bernadette) was not necessary, and generally takes a lot away from the show. The whole gang of geniuses (except for Sheldon) slowly get dumber and more normal as the show goes on, with some lines or visuals to remind you that they're supposed to be smart. They were in seasons 1-3... but now they are more or less normal. Those are my only real problems, otherwise this show is a brilliant mix of fantasy and reality, as well as well thought out character based humor for the first three seasons... and a few nice moments in the later three. Not to offend anyone, but any negative reviews you see probably just don't understand the humor, or maybe think the show is too far-fetched from reality. This is not a sitcom. A sitcom throws moderately wacky characters into whacky situations. This is character based humor, which throws truly special characters into dull situations with their personalities the only source of laughs... albeit a great one. Expand

I think that what really keeps the show entertaining are the actors. Simon Helberg (Howard), Johnny Galecki (Leonard), Kunal Nayyer (Raj) and of course Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper). Yet out of all of them, Jim's character really stands out. Him playing a gigantic know-it-all who still doesn't tend to get the hang of sarcasm really brings the show to life. Kaley, Simon, and Kunaal were also great additions to this playful and unconventional sitcom where the situation is highly improbable. Though my personal favorite was Jim Parsons by far. To act like a pariah when you're not is just plain genius.

I'm a 55 year-old lady who never watches nerd-type movies or shows; don't like them. With 'Big Bang Theory' however, I have to be careful if I eat and drink while watching the show. If I'm not careful, I'll choke on my food or have liquids coming out of my nose from laughing so hard. Icky description, but SO true! Hands down the funniest show I've seen since 'Soap' in the mid-70s, when II'm a 55 year-old lady who never watches nerd-type movies or shows; don't like them. Sheldon is a person who doesn't understand social occasion. Don't like him so much. However, the show is ok. Love the show, but not Sheldon. Penny is the funnest one.

The best sitcom ever, full of nerdy references. I love the characters and all the freak references to Star Trek, Star Wars, Marvel comics, manga, etc.

Being an A-level Physics and Mathematics student makes me understand the jokes very easily at the expense of my mother. Anyways, The Big Bang Theory is probably the best comedy going on, right now and in a matter if two seasons, it has become my favourite show. The chemistry between some of the characters (preferably Sheldon and Penny) is superb and the humour is great. 'Smart is the new sexy.'

The Big Bang Theory is supremo geeky type comedy. Sheldon and Lennord (hope spelling is right) steals the show for me. The show is must watch if you love Comedy. Although Raj makes me dissappointed with his acting but overall its a treat to comedy lovers.

I wonder if anyone ever noticed that before she married Leonard, Penny was the only cast member who didn’t have a last name. At least I never heard anyone mention it.

The writing and acting on the show has not diminished over the years. I predict that more interesting plot lines will develop if Howard’s wife becomes pregnant and if Sheldon proposes to Amy.

This is one of the few shows on TV where the cast members not only received a huge increase in salary, but a network signed the show up for a three year renewal.

A very fun show up until Season 9. After season 9, the show got repetitive and unfunny, with stale dialogue, boring plot lines, and lazy jokes. Overall, fun but very flawed.

Very funny. I like the fact that a very attractive girl doesn't mind being seen with "nerds". It's very sad how in TV the "beautiful" people are never seen with the geeky, the average or the kinda goofy so this was a very refreshing bit of entertainment. i would give it a 50 if they would let me.

It is now apparent that Chuck Lorre is the new "King Midas" of network TV. I became a fan of Two and a Half Men about 3 years ago, got caught up via the DVD's and still love it. I started watching this occasionally, and it grew on me, I went back and watched the first 2 seasons on DVD so I knew I hadn't missed a thing. Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons are brilliant in this show. It is now apparent that Chuck Lorre is the new "King Midas" of network TV. The show's portrayal of true geekery is dead on and the jokes requires geek knowledge or at least exposure to true geekdom to understand. The fact that some of the "professional" reviewers rated the show so low, and their reviews, shows that they have no idea what they're talking about. Obviously, the real comedy in the show is going right over their heads.

One of the best shpws on TV. Very Funny. I ewad the rating of the Chicago Tribune. Now we know why The Chicago Tribune is going out of business: They are not atuned to the real world.

As a self confessed geek, this show is just hilarious. The jokes are not mean or cruel, they just have an element of truth in them, situations or character traits are often taken to the extreme of course, which always makes for the best comedy.

very funny show, Sheldon is my favorite character. The jokes are not as scientific as people say, so anyone can get them. Unlike some "comedy" shows this show does not loose its appeal by over dramatization

I see myself as a geek. In fact I even think this show is not nerdish enough. Why do they play D&D on a board? Why not Gurps or Shadowrun? Why do they play X-BOX 360 when they could be playing old classics or dwarf fortress? I can identify myself with the characters in the show, especially with Sheldon and Leonard but for my taste there is still not enough nerd culture in this show. OnI see myself as a geek. However despite all of this i would still recommend the big bang theory to anyone who hasn't yet seen it because until you see how repetitive the jokes become there are some genuinely funny moments in The Big Bang Theory and even now i still watch every episode because every so often there will be a properly funny joke to make you giggle and it is for that reason that i would heartily recommend the show.

Critics don't apparently like this very much, but I thought it is a funny show, a bit repetitive altogether, with not many plot twists if at all. The show might even have been engaging, if the one-liners came less frequently and the characters had a little more dimension. As it is, Sheldon and Leonard are merely laughable, if sweet, and they are even less fleshed out than the characters on "Two and a Half Men."
