    To effectively review this show, you need to observe it with a politically-neutral viewpoint. To review this show on comedic merit, it is absolutely horrible. Its structure of set-up, punchline, set-up, punchline, combined with its poor sketch acting and a LAUGH TRACK creates a dismal production that should never have even made it to a pilot episode.

    The worst show of all time... The 1/2 Hour News Hour is a pathetic attempt at a republican version of the Daily Show. Remember Fox is the channel that brought us (the viewers) many shows uninteresting shows like the OC and American Dad. Don't Watch this, It's just sick. Everyone should loathe it.

    This show is so horrible! The Daily Show criticizes both the LEFT AND RIGHT. This show just attacks anything left leaning with no humor whatsoever! The 1/2 Hour News Hour uses a laugh track(obviously), while The Daily Show uses their live audience who actually laugh because Jon Stewart is hilarious!

I don't mind having conservative comedy, but how can anyone think this is funny? It honestly offends me to think that anyone believes people watch The Daily Show solely because it has a liberal bent. But that's all just trying to be neutral. Personally, I would enjoy it if this show was on the air for years.     The US has sent some great comedy shows across the pond over the years, but this isn't one of them. You could just see the writers trying to think of ways to satirise people who aren't in power. I can't believe my Tivo thinks I might want this show saved next time.

    Real humor is about exposing the absurdities of modern life and confronting uncomfortable cultural truths and trends. Modern American "conservatism" is about spewing absurd anachronistic babble with a straight face and redefining "truth" until it is devoid of any meaning whatsoever. Genuine "humor" is not compatible with the ideology of the New Right. PS: This show sucks.

I cannot imagine why anyone would voluntarily watch this show. This show skewers only liberal targets, delivers the 'jokes' one after the other, and sounds more like two drunk conservatives cracking awful jokes than a comedy show. Trey Parker and Matt Stone of "South Park," for example, are middle-rightists, if you pay attention to that sort of thing; but the difference between them, the real comic geniuses, and the hacks putting on this ridiculous display is that Parker and Stone are too funny to get caught up in partisan crap. They're not looking to win approval from a certain segment of society. As for those of you criticizing "The Daily Show" as "too liberal," I ask you, have you watched the show? I'll grant you that Jon Stewart is a liberal himself, but he would've been off the air years ago if he weren't funny. The fact is, the man's hilarious, as are the other writers and "anchors" on the show. Similarly, Stephen Colbert is a near-genius comic mastermind who channels both Bill O'Reilly and Keith Olbermann in one of the funniest pairings I can think of. See, that's what makes comedy funny: the ability to, y'know, BE FUNNY. I'd watch "The 1/2-Hour News Hour" again if it actually had something funny going on, but frankly, I don't need my ear jawed off by commentators who will do nothing but make fun of liberals the entire time.     Realizing that Fox News is losing viewership at its fastest rate ever, Rupert Murdoch is desperately flailing around and grasping at whatever he can to save his laughable "Fair and Balanced" network. The nasty by-product of this feeble attempt is the "1/2 Hour News Hour," a trainwreck of a show. I am a paleoconservative, and do not find this funny in the slightest.

    Are Republicans really this stupid? I watched the March 4th show a few minutes ago, and I'm stunned at how unprofessional and unfunny it was. How did the guy working the laugh track know when to turn it on? By the way, great timing having Ann Coulter on. Again, are Republicans really that stupid? Yes, they are.

    This is abysmal. I truly was hoping for a worthy competitor to the Daily Show, but for all the conservatives pretending that the Daily Show's liberal, John Stewart et al. skewers Obama with greater skill and humor in one line than this show did with an entire sequence. It's not that it's conservative. It's just that it's weak.

    I've only seen a small clip, but it's enough to show how force this show is. The humor is really bad and the audience sounds really forced (reminds me a bit of the America's Funniest Home Videos audience). You don't have to be Democrat to love the Daily Show, but it doesn't matter which party you are for this one: it sucks on both ends.

Forget even the content.....delivery....timing....bad Charles in Charge laughtrack...crap fox news graphics and lame cameos by radio personalities........it's still not funny. regular fox news shows like the beltway boys and bill o'reilly is ten times more hysterical.

    This was absolute crap! What a train wreck. I've watched Fox News for years but this makes me want to find another channel and makes me not take any of their real reporting seriously. The Daily Show and Colbert report in my view also suck but they are on Comedy Central. This crappy show doesn't belong on a Cable News Channel or on TV for that matter. Its pure torture to watch.

    I watched it with a self-professed moderate recently, who told me it made him ashamed to vote Republican. It serves to remind everyone else what a great job other shows can do night after night and week after week when actual comedy writers are used in the production of a show.

Maybe it's just me, but watching your average dumbasses giving yes or no answers to stupid yes or no questions is just not funny. Another segment featured the billionth tired take on the whole "John Edwards is a closeted queer who preaches a populist message while maintaining a billion dollar account balance" thing, a premise equally as unfunny as the tired liberal "Ann Coulter is a raging lesbian bitch" schtick.     It was like telling a joke and forgetting the punch line. Were the hosts real people? That stuff on BBC is not as dry as this program. Waste of money!!!!

    What makes the daily show work is that it exposes the absurd. If you watch stewart regularly you know that he will attack both the left and the right with mockery, however Fox is a favourite target because no other network contains more absurdity. You could make a whole show lampooning Glen Beck alone. Like everything on Fox, the 1/2 news hour tried to promote a political agenda, thisWhat makes the daily show work is that it exposes the absurd. In the end a comedy show has to be funny and the 1/2 hour news hour was never funny. It attempted to be funny but first of all the writers were horrible and the fact they focused 100% of their attention on the left doomed them. Not only did they lose mountains of humorous material by doing this but they came across as phoney. Compounding to this problem is that Fox has the oldest demographic of all cable news networks. If Fox viewers want comedy they'll watch Charlie Chaplin.… Expand

    This show truly was terrible. Not even Fox's loyal audience you stomach it. That it made 17 episodes is a testament to the programming directors stubbornly unrealistic sense of optimism that an audience could be found for this tripe. It made New Coke look like a good idea.

    Dennis Miller once commented garrulously with florid flourishes on the issues of the day with an acerbic wit and a well-honed showman's flair. It was a fun schtick.. He landed his comedic hits and pointed barbs in a way that more often than not elevated the audience, making them feel more intelligent than either they or Dennis Miller probably actually were.

    This show was the inverse    Dennis Miller once commented garrulously with florid flourishes on the issues of the day with an acerbic wit and a well-honed showman's flair. It was a fun schtick.. He landed his comedic hits and pointed barbs in a way that more often than not elevated the audience, making them feel more intelligent than either they or Dennis Miller probably actually were.

    This show was the inverse of that. It felt like the show made you feel dumber than anyone could possibly be on the issued on the day because Dennis had by then turned into a rabid ideologue who was no longer funny but embittered with lousy analogies of whom he had his long list of beefs with. It was simply re-used diatribe from the 1st show to the last show. There are more poignant and funny right wing commentators on any blog, news site, or forum on the Internet today.    … Expand
