    Sweet Magnolias Season 5 delivers the moving, joyful milestones for Helen and Eric that fans have been waiting for. However, a frustrating new direction for Dana Sue prevents this otherwise beautifully comforting season from being absolutely perfect.

    All in all, season 5 was a pleasantly surprising outing for the show. It still suffers from pacing issues and stilted, preachy dialogue, but it never slips too far into soap-opera drama or relies too strongly on intense cliffhangers.
