Brand new storylines are slowly being built up and it’s a great ride of the classic SW-feel and, in comparison, much more intense and high-paced than S01. The non-stop adventures of Ezra & Kanan are good as always, even though the fascinating character-depth that made the first entry so great, has greatly decreased. The focus of this second season is on brand new stories, like for example; the friendship between a clone and a jedi. That’s highly original thinking! The childish aspects are not that noticeable, the humor can even be hilariously great, and it still is an animation! The show still lacks a more unique feel to the plot & the characters, and it desperately need less amount of expositions! Sure there are some less interesting episodes, but still; Star Wars Rebels continues to impress and follows what the original films gave us, even though it kind of mock them in a fan-positive way. And wow, what a stunning season finale!

I want it be so good, but it really is boring when making the obvious comparison to the clone wars. Every episode feeling exactly the same. It lacks the expansive feel of star wars. Every scene is either in a ship or similar looking hangar, or the one planet (Lothal) where, for some reason, every plot it centred around. Different planets an factions were a regular in the clone, but the animators seem to be avoiding such a workload. Prime examples; space battle usually involve no more than 5 ships (will admit that the lack of war means less ships), a scene where they do run through a market not on Lothal and yet citizens on this world must be invisible, and in season 1 ("Out of Darkness") there is a season where they literally copy an animation during a fight (look out for it when Hera and Sabine are on their ship fighting off the creatures).

But, a little better in season 2. Helps that the fate of the characters are unknown.

Season 2 is an improvement. Now that the sparks have ignited the fire of rebellion against the Empire it will become an even harder fight. The Empire will do everything to extinguish these flames. This season has less weaker episodes, does a lot of good fan service and has a great overall story arc that leads to an epic final. Also we got some good character development for our main cast and some familiar faces made an appearance. To be more specific a lot of Clone Wars characters are becoming part of the cast and those add a lot to the enjoyment (Wont go into details to avoid spoilers). Lets go to my favourite episodes: “The Siege of Lothal part 1 and 2” starts the new status quo as the Empire sends their most feared enforcer to crush the rebels. Everything else from before is now was just a minor inconvenience. “The lost Commanders” and “Relics of the Old Republic” adds nostalgia to the show and brings in a fan favourite. Also quite a good tactical battle and quite a humorous game of fishing;-). “Brother of the Broken Horn” is a game of scoundrels, enjoyable and a welcome change of pace. “Blood Sisters” shows finally some of Sabine’s past and introduce a new interesting characters in form of Ketsu. “A Princess on Lothal” title alone is already a spoiler so I say a well done guest appearance and nice plot to archive the mutual goals. “Homecoming” is Hera’s episode and we get more of her backstory. It has an excellent and immersive storyline and (a bit foreseeable twists) atop on good character development. “The Honourable Ones” is Zeb’s and Agent Kallus episode and one of my favourites. It might be a bit stereotypical but flashes out the characters. “The forgotten Droid” is on my list because of AP-5 the mentioned droid. Won me over instantly and he and Chopper work well together. Finally we have season finale “Twilight of the Apprentice part 1 and 2”. This is an epic climax with impacts for the show and characters. The confrontation is set up during the whole season but there will be far more to it. Great story, good twist and a challenge for our characters. Also bonus for a familiar face returning. Overall this is a good improvement. While season 1 had more weaker episode this has nearly no clear weaknesses except the a bit cheesy “Legends of Lasat” and even that has some redeeming qualities. However there is a difference between good and awesome episodes. It does not reach the levels of the best Clone Wars seasons so I think a 8/10 is fair. Would still recommend to watch this as it might sound too negative and for some people anything below a 9/10 is utter garbage (Never understood this point of view). Expand

This sophomore season is much better than the previous season. The characters grow a lot more, especially Ezra Bridger. I also actually liked the fact that the show brought in Ashoka Tano and some of the original clones. I also liked that they made the antagonist of the season the one and only, Darth Vader. In the end, this season is a lot more enjoyable than the previous.

How come so many people love this show? I will literally list the countless problems with it below:

Concept art; It ends up being ruined by cringey animation. They tried to hype up the show by revealing that the characters and models would be based off of concept art for the original Star Wars movies but since they are being paid a ton by Disney they don't put enough effort into the animation and it ends up looking really bad.

The characters; Zeb is actually a knock-off of Chewbacca, except he can talk. His design is even based off of concept art for Chewie. Ezra doesn't change at all for the entire show but apparently if the team thinks giving him a haircut gives him a personality change, then they are wrong.

The show itself; Back when I watched The Clone wars, every episode was amazing, even cinematic. The animation quality and effects were astounding and you can take away actual lessons and even be willing to watch it again, and again. For Rebels, literally there is nothing to take away from each episode. Every episode is exactly the same. They make a plan to annoy the empire. They steal stormtrooper armor and everyone falls for it. They blow something up. They fly away. Nothing bad ever really happens to them.

Oh yeah, and did i ever mention, that nobody ever dies in this show? I mean sure, a few tie fighters crash and you can presume that they died, But you will never see a character death on-screen. In Clone wars, characters died left and right, even if they were main characters or secondary characters. Sure it was a bit graphic at times but thats what made that show good and a bit dark. There are a few scenes, such as when Ezra runs towards the stormtroopers with his lightsaber and cuts their guns in half, and they run away.(See 'Stormtroopers' below) Like, what? And there is another scene where chopper picks up a blaster and, instead of shooting a stormtrooper with it, Runs up to him and hits him in the head with it, knocking him out.

Stormtroopers; Ok, they are idiots. remember in A New Hope, when the empire was menacing and seemed like they were invincible? You won't get that feeling in this show. The empire is so idiotic sometimes Its just really shocking. For example: there is a scene where the Rebels throw this pig-midget-thing on the window of the imperial base, which is obviously a distraction, and every person in the room immediately whip out their guns and start shooting the impervious glass, repeatedly. And they keep shooting, even after the discovery that, oh, I don't know, the windows in the building that you've been working at for years are invincible, which they should have known, they DONT. STOP. SHOOTING.

Rebellion; This entire show is supposed to be about how the Rebellion formed, hence the name, But wanna know a secret? It doesn't At the end of the show the "rebellion" they started is defeated. Even Leia talked about the Rebellion she started was growing. (So what on earth are WE watching if the actual stuff isnt even going to be in the show?). So basically the entire show has nothing to do with the continuity.

Thrawn; I get it, he's a strategic mastermind, so how come he literally does nothing In season 3 and 4, except steal a piece of wood and try to attack a city? So we're supposed to care about Lothal just because Ezra was BORN there? What?? Anyways, a strategic mastermind gets tricked by a dumb kid and gets kidnapped by whales and then gets teleported away, never to be seen again. (Not joking)

Helicopter inquisitors; There are some people who think The Last jedi ruined star wars, and this "show" saved Star wars. Oh, are you talking about the show where the inquisitors start spinning their lightsabers and fly away like helicopters. I am kidding you not, that is what they do. Can you imagine if during the Duel of the fates, Darth Maul just starts spinning his lightsaber, and flies away, like a helicopter?! Not only that, but at the beginning of season 2, it just starts with Kanan and Ezra fighting 2 inquisitors, without any introduction or explanation where they came from or who trained them.

Darth Maul; So the only chance we get for seeing an episode without the other characters is ruined by stinking Ezra. We COULD OF HAD a episode showcasing exclusively darth-mauls final stand and journey to find and defeat Obi-wan but instead we get to watch Ezra prance around in the desert for 90% of the episode. He literally does nothing.

Ok, this lengthy review is finished, for now. But honestly this show just sucks.
