Genndy Tartokovsky's Clone Wars, for me personally, even better than the later Clone Wars series. This season and the next use a lot of elements from Samurai Jack, like less dialogue and using more action to tell the story. This season also has a lot more that builds up to Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. In the end, Clone Wars Volume One is flawlessly brilliant.

*This review is for all the three seasons*. The greatest thing with this beautiful animation is the added subplots to the gap between ‘Attack of The Clones’ and ‘Revenge of The Sith’, and of course a much more nuanced perspective to Anakin’s turn to the dark side.

The sad aspect with this hand-drawn series is that is got more to tell about the connections between Anakin and Obi-Wan than ‘Attack of The Clones’. We see attachment, development and real chemistry between them! The characters are very well visualized, even a bit stunning actually. But it’s really not until the near end of the series this kind of good writing comes to reality. The show starts at a very high pace with tonne of action and beautiful animations. But there’s no time for dialogs nor getting to know our characters more. The dialogs that do exist are somewhat excellent and somewhat vague at the same time due to a lot of “classic reaction dialogs” and lack of – you guess it; dialogs. But the plot gets a lot more dialog/character-driven near the third season with even some added humor, so it gets better after every season, even though the series is a lot more action, than dialog-driven. The overall plot is somewhat entertaining with its intense moments of action and even more beautiful animation near the third season. There are a lot of small details and twists that every prequel fan would love to see, so there are a lot of connections between this show and the films. But the plot can also be a big draggy due to the serie’s too big focus on action than characters. But this of course escalates over time and we get to know more insides to Anakin’s inner truth. There’s a lot more depth and understanding to him too, sometimes even more than the movies!

‘Star Wars: Clone Wars’ is the show every Star Wars fan should watch. We never got a film showing the intensity of The Clone Wars, only the start and the end. If you always wanted more of that, you should definitely see it! There’re a lot of intense moments with touching music, and tonne of subplots to Anakin, General Grievous and The Jedi Order. There might be some overused phrases, few and vague dialogs, lack of character driven moments and of course a perhaps too action-driven plot. But I really found it entertaining and it really gets better over time with more connections to the films and much development to Anakin Skywalker.

Star wars clone wars manages to tell it's story with it's amazing animation style through visuals, which works real well with the series. It's got good characters, action, and some very good storytelling in it too.

    Extremely Underrated
Tartokovsky's version of Clone Wars is extremely well written and crisply animated with the same art style as Samurai Jack and Primal.

Son cortos muy animados con muy buena acción y encajan perfectamente los sucesos del episodio II-III y entretienen todo el tiempo sin decaer nunca. 09/10

I honestly didn't see what was so great about this series. It's just watching something cool, the end. Fighting, the end. Shooting guns, the end. There was no plot at all. By the way, this is coming from someone who actually loves the prequels. And do I even need to mention the horrid voice acting? Anankin really sounded like he was fat guy a guy sitting on his computer, hating on the prequels and George Lucas, saying he can do a better job than Hayden Christensen. And General Grevious just didn't sound like general Grevious at all! Also, why was Yoda drawn to be like he was in a bad mood the whole time? The Yoda I remember was cheerful most of the time, not pissed off all the time for some reason. To be fair though, I will say the 3rd season was a much needed improvement, becuase there actually was a plot, and characters actually had dialogue. But it was too little too late. Expand

The first season of Tartakovsky's clone wars showcases all of the great action we have come to expect from this master of animation while fleshing out each Jedi's powers.

The thing that I don't like about the Star Wars prequels is the dialogue. The stories were great, and they looked awesome. This show kept those characters and tied together those great stories- with some pretty good Dialogue! Is this too good to be true?

Yes. You can't have the whole greatness package with Star Wars anymore. The drawback on this is the animation. I can't emphasize this

Yes. You can't have the whole greatness package with Star Wars anymore. The drawback on this is the animation. I can't emphasize this enough. The story is great, the dialogue is great and the animation is abysmal. If you are mature enough to get through the animation, I believe this show to be much better than the more modern one.

While I was at first unimpressed by season 1 it won me over towards the middle and at the end of the season I was truly a fan. The show itself tells the story of the Clone Wars between Star Wars episode 2 and 3 and can be viewed as shorter prototype for the more famous later Clone Wars TV show (This is not canon anymore with the new show). It was produced with a small team and in two weeks according to director Genndy Tartakovsky. For this I give a lot of praise. The visuals are not that good and I found them limited. Especially some characters look strange like Palpatine and Ventress. However the aesthetics and style were great and impressed me. It is set in in 10 episodes each 3 minutes long. Update: I have seen that Metacritic also added the second season here to season 1 with additional 10 episodes and season 3 is labeled as season 2. I suppose a different release or just an error. So I will add a bit to my review.
    Season 1 (First 10 episodes):
They try their best to give us breathtaking battles, duels, characters and stories. With the above mentioned limitation I think they did well enough. I also think there is not much to say more than this. Overall it is a project that despite its limitations won me over. The first season is not that good first but improves. I give it a 7/10 in regards to the limitations and short production time. For this it is excellent and other shows could take an example.
    Season 2 (Episode 11-20):
This is were the show gets really good if not awesome. We get a badass Mace Windu, Yoda to the rescue and a General Grievous who makes his later incarnation look like a pathetic joke to name a few. Also a lot of development for Anakin or his first steps in another direction in an epic challenge. While the visuals improved it is not as good as the other Star Wars shows. The style and story however easily erase this weakness. It was intense, enjoyable and well crafted in regards of story telling and ideas. Overall this is a hell of an improvement a I will give a 9/10 as it was more than satisfying.
    Overall rating:
I do the math a will give an 8/10 and a recommendation for fans.
