This season and the next use a lot of elements from Samurai Jack, like less dialogue and using more action to tell the story. This season also has a lot more that builds up to Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. In the end, Clone Wars Volume One is flawlessly brilliant. Full Review »

*This review is for all the three seasons*. The greatest thing with this beautiful animation is the added subplots to the gap between ‘Attack*This review is for all the three seasons*. The greatest thing with this beautiful animation is the added subplots to the gap between ‘Attack of The Clones’ and ‘Revenge of The Sith’, and of course a much more nuanced perspective to Anakin’s turn to the dark side.

The sad aspect with this hand-drawn series is that is got more to tell about the connections between Anakin and Obi-Wan than ‘Attack of The Clones’. We see attachment, development and real chemistry between them! The characters are very well visualized, even a bit stunning actually. But it’s really not until the near end of the series this kind of good writing comes to reality. The show starts at a very high pace with tonne of action and beautiful animations. But there’s no time for dialogs nor getting to know our characters more. The dialogs that do exist are somewhat excellent and somewhat vague at the same time due to a lot of “classic reaction dialogs” and lack of – you guess it; dialogs. But the plot gets a lot more dialog/character-driven near the third season with even some added humor, so it gets better after every season, even though the series is a lot more action, than dialog-driven. The overall plot is somewhat entertaining with its intense moments of action and even more beautiful animation near the third season. There are a lot of small details and twists that every prequel fan would love to see, so there are a lot of connections between this show and the films. But the plot can also be a big draggy due to the serie’s too big focus on action than characters. But this of course escalates over time and we get to know more insides to Anakin’s inner truth. There’s a lot more depth and understanding to him too, sometimes even more than the movies!

‘Star Wars: Clone Wars’ is the show every Star Wars fan should watch. We never got a film showing the intensity of The Clone Wars, only the start and the end. If you always wanted more of that, you should definitely see it! There’re a lot of intense moments with touching music, and tonne of subplots to Anakin, General Grievous and The Jedi Order. There might be some overused phrases, few and vague dialogs, lack of character driven moments and of course a perhaps too action-driven plot. But I really found it entertaining and it really gets better over time with more connections to the films and much development to Anakin Skywalker.
