This is Trek by Name alone. It **** on Roddenberrys Vision one could be inspired by and strife for. This dystopian world is no world you would live in.

Like all Star Trek written or produced by Alex Kurtzman, this show has good production values but is handicapped by ridiculous dialogue and a plot that makes little sense. It's supposed to be a mystery story (who is the mysterious woman named Dahj), but has none of the investigative curiosity or diligence that typified similar stories in other incarnations of Star Trek. Instead, we see a jaded old Picard who relies more on supposition than evidence. Worse, the show has none of Star Trek's traditional spirit of optimism for the future, its thirst for adventure, or its exploration of strange new civilizations. Long time Star Trek fans will be disappointed. Anyone new to Star Trek would be better off watching reruns of Star Trek: The Next Generation, or even Star Trek: Enterprise. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Picard once told Lily that "the economics of the 24th Century are somewhat different". So why does he employ servants? Has he regressed? Also, why does the female Romulan sound Irish?? What's with the swearing?? This is supposed to be Star Trek, not some edgy show for morons. When the explosion takes place on the top of a Starfleet building why didn't Starfleet Security take a statement from Picard. Are they incompetent now? Headquarters. Theres no security. Random Romulans are just beaming down and getting their areas handed to them by a girl half their size. Why didnt they just beam Picard and the girl into a secure holding cell on the ship they were clearly beaming down from. How did their CLOAKED ship slip by the techno detection grids?? When the disruptor blows up how is it that Picard isnt seriously injured?? The Hurculean tuck and roll he did was impressive, but totally impossible for a man of his age to have come off unscathed. Then he gets "dropped off" back at hine as though he was just some random drunkard. No questioning about what he was doing, no questions about the explosion, or the many dead Romulans who weren't beamed back to their ship. Nothing. Just dropped off. By the Police. Not Starfleet Security as would have been the procedure, given that it was a Starfleet facility. Who on earth is writing this stuff??? They need firing immediately. Expand

Terrible, terrible series. What a joke. Alex Kurtman needs to go back to film school to learn some basic script writing skills.
