Mar 18, 2018I think it's extremely well done, especially after the first couple of episodes which honestly are a bit slow. It's sad people giving this bad reviews and saying they quit after 1 episode. You are lame and don't deserve something this well done. I seriously feel people are trashing this because they can't handle a woman lead in their precious Star Trek. Total sadness.

Sep 26, 2017WOW - like it. Special effects, music and casting are great! Old Star Trek had more depth but the new show is a good compromise between the old series and the style of the new time line. AND the visuals in this TV series are one of the best you will currently see! If you watch Discovery shortly after STNG you my think THIS IS NEXT GENERATION TELEVISION.

Oct 22, 2017I love this show. I've been a fan of Trek for around 40 years and was thrilled when I heard they were making a new show because I've been waiting for a new show for a long time. The actors and characters are great and the stories are interesting. Star Trek: Discovery is like a mixture of Next Generation, Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek (2009) I highly recommend it! 10/10

Jan 18, 2018Just watched episode 11 and this show has really hit its stride. Strong performances by the leads a diverse cast and high production values make this one of the only programs on tv worth tuning in to see what happens next. How about everyone who gave this a bad review after one episode shut the f up and give it a chance to breath. Well worth your time if your a sci fi fan.

Feb 9, 2018Great to see Star Trek back on our screens ,remember time for us in movie production has moved on so much since the first series and remember each episode was a story on its own .Discovery is a on going saga i would say it is different be cause of turns and twists , but i am enjoying watching it,take it as something new ,movies have moved on from simple tales and so must Star Trek to survive!
-
Feb 7, 2018Story and characters are well thought out and progressing well. Engaging and can't wait for more, an amazing addition to the Star Trek series.
-
Oct 9, 2017The negative reviews just seem to have spoken their verdicts even before the show even really started. The first 2 "real" episodes showed that Discovery is very well written and a really good addition to the universe because it dares to be new.

Oct 2, 2017I was hooked right away and I'm loving all the plot twists. I am enjoying this much more than TNG, which is the only other Star Trek series I've watched in its entirety.
I have we get 6 or 7 more seasons!
Making the show streaming-only and 10 dollars a month the only way to watch it is terrible news for the show and its cast and crew. -
Sep 25, 2017I wouldn't have given this show a 10 if it weren't for all that haters that clearly want a decent show to fail. True score: 7.5-8. Don't listen to the haters, this show is pretty good

Feb 27, 2018Literally every negative review is about how the show is not like old Star Trek. Ignore them it's a good show. Starts slowly and gets better.
-
Oct 6, 2017The next step in the natural evolution of Star Trek.
A few shady performances from a couple of characters but nothing that takes away from the overall experience. Don't miss it! -
Oct 1, 2017Loved it. A show where the action and plot comes first instead of jumping straight into being yet another sci-fi soap opera. So sick of these crews full of self doubting whining babies and their personal problems that end up taking center stage instead of adventures in space.

Sep 25, 2017This is exactly what the Star Trek franchise needs. Willing to let go of the TNG era, and move into modern television. Wonderfully acted, gripping story so far, and already hinting at addressing modern issues like culture vs race, I believe this will be the first show to out do The Next Generation.
-
Sep 25, 2017A Star Trek story for a new generation, a generation open to change. Critics are right, its a solid entrance in the dying franchise, brought to life with incredible atention to details.
-
Oct 30, 2017Interesting, flashy and well made show that I'm looking forward to getting in to.
Sad that it's being review-bombed by trolls that don't know how to be open minded. -

Jan 22, 2018Best Star Trek since TNG, different but refreshing plot takes time to develop but does so nicely, I was a bit circumspect about the characters but good character building gets you hooked after a couple of episodes.
-
Sep 25, 2017The most intriguing Star Trek series since Voyager. At first it feels a bit like a fan film, but the production value is much higher and there's a lot of depth here that I didn't expect. Yeah, the Klingons look strange, but overall this is definitely a show to keep your eye on.
-
Sep 25, 2017Excellent tv series, about time we got another star trek show!!! Acting, story, graphics superb. The show will look completely different from the originals due to we are in 2017 technology advanced.
-
Oct 2, 2017I watch the first two episodes and loved it! i do remember the first episodes of TNG and was horrible. The first season of Voyager was ok, later it became the best next to STO. Discovery began very strong. SFX was fantastic, good characters and lots of actions. Hope they can keep up this level of tension and urgency. For all you haters (0 points really?) get a life :)

Sep 24, 2017Star Trek Discovery is the Sci-fi we've all been waiting for since Enterprise. Many of times, tv shows will come on trying to innovate the idea of adventure, exploration, drama, and discovery, but they often times fail at meeting what the average users want. Disicovery not only meets those innovations, but exceeds it greatly.
-
Sep 25, 2017Well, this was something different.. As a die-hard Star Trek fan, I welcome the change of pace from invincible goody-two-shoes characters to something new. Finally. Keep it up.
-
Sep 25, 2017great show and far better than the old boring star trek. If you want a show that resembles previous star trek go watch the hot pile Orville; Discovery is a show adapted to modern television and is actually entertaining.

Oct 9, 2017This is not your daddy’s Star Trek., but it is Star Trek. Just a different version for a different time. It’s compelling, exciting and, yes, dark. Darker than Trek has ever been. But it oozes the hope for those times we know and we all have seen to come after this prequel. Don’t believe the trolls: It’s absolutely epic! LLAP

Oct 21, 2017This show is AMAZING! It breathes new life into a franchise that was long growing stale. The recent movies were boring, and few new fans were being created. This is a Star Trek that shows that values are hard to stand by, and it takes struggle to do so. Don't listen to the haters who are just mad that the universe doesn't revolve around White dudes. This is Trek worth watching.
-
Jan 29, 2018I love this show! I’m not sure why people think it isn’t Star Trek; we can’t have every show being exactly the same, can we. It is fun and engaging and it is Star Trek!

Jan 11, 2018This is a very high quality show with great production value and sincere acting performances. I am shocked that there are so many negative views but after reading them its become clear that they are almost entirely written by bitter trolls who would hate anything of real artistic value. I grew up on Star Trek: The Next Generation and this show takes the old Star Trek to an entirely new level.

Feb 7, 2018I suppose hard-core Star Trek fans are going to bemoan the fast pacing and the moral complexity, as well as the absence of tedious sermonising about the greater good and the Prime Directive. The rest of us can find plenty to enjoy in the first season's well structured story arc and the fine performances by the likes of Michelle Yeoh and Jason Isaacs.

I am an avid star trek fan and have watched every episode of every ST series at least 2-3 times.
STD is a good show and deserves support even from the old guard. All you "0" raters are pathetic! -
Feb 24, 2019I am a Star Trek Fan since 1990. I must admit that DSC is not my favorite Star Trek show (that would be TNG) but it is quite well. And the second season is really awesome.

Mar 4, 2018Loved it. Seems harsh some of the negativity. Agree the characters lack emotional depth but other than that the storyline is fantastic, it keeps pushing and pushing, wonderfully creative. Why do people review something after only 2 episodes?
-
Sep 25, 2017Just as I thought. The Orville is more Star Trek than this. But... I really enjoyed it. I watched it on Dutch Netflix and I was VERY disappointed when I found out I had to wait another week for a new episode.
-
Sep 26, 2017Really good start. As a ST fan from more then 30 years I can say that new show is unexpectedly good. Anyway I'm not able understand all these bad comments because new trek is different then treks before. New Klingons are excellent!

-
Oct 28, 2017I have watched the fist 6 episodes so far and have really liked it and the new characters. The characters have all a vulnerability that makes them interesting and the action has been good. It is as good a Star Trek since the best of TNG. Can't wait to seen the rest.

Dec 3, 2017It keeps fidelity to the spirit of original series with great work in special effects and a multiethnic cast. The final chapter develops curiosity for what will happen next season.
-
Nov 23, 2017It is visually engaging and Sonequa Martin-Green is definitely a very good and interesting lead. Although it stumbles a bit in the story, Star Trek Discovery is a very dense and dark space opera.

Sep 25, 2017Strongly character driven, which much to be revealed. Makes you want to keep watching. It is a good starting point for a new series even if I hate the timeframe. If nothing else it keeps people interested and continues to boldly go forward. He's hoping it spawns a future series after Voyager. Give it a chance people!

Nov 6, 2017as a long time fan of star trek i can say that this is a fresh start and i love the little nuances that are there from the older series and films. Some may hate that this is not in the same concept of TNG etc, but more of the same is not always good for a series. My mother, me and my brother are all star trek fans, and we all agree that this is a good series
-
Oct 2, 2017So many other reviews have completely missed the point or applied a standard that every other Star Trek series would also fail to meet. The first several episodes were great and a real return to form for the franchise after several movies that really seemed to, like so many users on this site, miss the whole point of what star trek is supposed to be about.

Apr 13, 2019Totally rewriting and rerating my review after the end of season 1 and season 2.
In short - the beginning of Season 1 was a misstep that has been more than corrected for. I've gone from a detractor to a fan. Well done for turning this around.

Discovery feels like it’s adrift between the adventure-of-the-week format of its network-TV predecessors and the kind of complex serial favored by cable and streaming.
-
Star Trek: Discovery feels like it's just finding its footing. On the promising side, Doug Jones is already a standout as Science Officer Lt. Saru, who's from an alien race called Kelpiens. And James Frain is perfectly cast as Sarek, the Vulcan who veteran "Trek" fans know as the father of Spock. The relationship between Burnham and Sarek is one of the more intriguing aspects of Star Trek: Discovery.
-
Happily Star Trek: Discovery strikes a balance between what diehard Trekkies love about Roddenberry’s universe and what J.J. Abrams injected into its theatrical resurrection. Ethical dilemmas and a clash between cultures and traditions comprise the fore of the narrative, but the hours don’t skimp on phaser blasts and broadcast-appropriate carnage.
