Excellent show. Although the new episodes are no where near the metaphysical perfection that is the first season, they are still entertaining. I can proudly and accurately say that I've seen every episode.

This show is awesome! So funny for kids and maybe some teenagers depends on their humour type. Still, this show has the humour of even possibly The Simpsons!

Spongebob SquarePants, in my eyes, has had 4 eras: The Nick Era, The Great era, The season 4 era, and the ughhh... era. When Spongebob first started out back in summer of 1999, it didn't try to set itself apart from the pther Nickelodeon shows airing at the time. I will review each season of the show, starting with The Nick era (season 1). What do I think of it? Of course I love the show. It's Spongebob SquarePants. Who didn't watch it? It was original, had nice characters, but most of all, it was fun. Do I need to describe the setting? You all should know it already. But this is a review, so I have to. The show takes place in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom, and starrs Spongebob Squarepants, a happy, kid friendly sponge that no kid could resist. His passion is frycooking at the Krusty Krab with his "friend", Squidward, and greedy boss, Mr. Krabs. Along with his friend, Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks, they go on adventures under the sea. At the time, season 1 Spongebob looked and felt like every other nick show at the time, although in my opinion, the show looks a bit awkward now than it does now. It looks awkwardly dark for some reason. The writing was decent, and it could make you laugh now and then, but it's nothing compared to what we would soon see. Tom Kenny does a nice voice for Spongebob, and everyone else is great as well. The only thing remotely wrong with the show at first season is how empty it feels sometimes. For example, in one episode, Spongebob finds a Jelly Fish and decides to bring it home and have a party. This results in a 2 or 3 minute dance scene where all they're doing is dancing...just dancing... there just something missing about the show that will make itbetter later on. I don't know if it's the writing, the animation, or the characters, something just seems out of place. Nevertheless, the first season of Spongebob Squarepants is merley a warm up of what was to come in The Great Era. Um...JayZilla2830, I think you might br reviewing the wrong season. The sixth season is not nearly as good as the first three, but it still is an amazing show.

Behold, one of the best cartoons of all time. I still watch this. New episodes may not be as good as the older, but I would give newer episodes as rating of 6-8. But episodes like the older, first seasons (seasons 1-3) are funny and great. Best episodes DoodleBob. Hands down.

I think most people agree that this show is not like it used to be when Stephen Hillenburg leff the show. Although the recent episodes are a bit stupid, I can't ignore the simply PHENOMENAL pre-2004 episodes like "Survival of the Idiots" and "Band Geeks." The acting is always done well although the recent writing has suffered tremendously.

It has clever humour and good, memorable characters (Patrick is probably the best). Although sometimes juvenile, this is all in all a hilarious show and Nickelodeon's best.

Ever since SpongeBob SquarePants was released on May 1st, 1999, the show had 3 great seasons to start with. Here's the first one... it's obviously great in the show's history.

The only good show on Nickelodeon. The show debuted back in the 90s, when I was a kid, and I don't see it losing any of its steam. Spongebob forever!

The first 3 seasons were amazing and very humorous. I love the art-style of them as well. The first movie was also really great. After the movie, the show has gotten really bad. But, now that Stephen is back, the episodes have been getting a little better and the art-style looks a bit better than the modern art-style. It has a more cartoony vibe to it instead of it looking like garbage. I still prefer Seasons 1 - 3 instead of Seasons 9 - 10, though. Expand

Spongebob Squarepants targets kids and adults with its pop culture references and uniquely smart slapstick without looking pathetic or even attention-starving.

One of the best TV shows on television! Teaches the values and lessons of life while giving a hilarious adventure. It's a show that will never be forgotten.

Season 1 is my favorite season. The hilarity is top-notch and the characters are memorable: Spongebob, the silly yellow sponge; Patrick, the stupid buffoon; Squidward, the grumpy clarinet-playing squid; Mr. Krabs, the greedy and selfish crab; Sandy, the karate-loving squirrel; and Plankton, the failure of a villian.

Season 1 is classic, but also my least favorite of the good seasons. I don't remember much of it, but I remember watching the episode "Ripped Pants" and becoming hooked as a kid, say, didn't Mr. Krabs warn me about hooks? Oh well.

This show is one of those non creative things that don't usually pass your mind. Spongebob Squarepants: season 1 is probably the best one, with pizza delivery (one of my favorite episodes of spongebob ever!), bubbles (awesome) and much more brilliant episodes of pure spongebob goodness! I wouldn't give it a 10/10, it doesn't quite deserve that. (Plankton is at his best in this series). This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think spongebob is a great children's TV show. The show is full of laughs, the characters are hilarious, the plots are getting better and better, and as the viewers grow out of it, new ones get into it. If you are an adult who has kids who enjoy spongebob, you probably enjoy it too, if not you may notice, a lot of it makes no sense. For example, in the episode were plankton controls spongebob's mind to try and get the krabby patty, spongebob walks through squidward's bedroom which is on the bottom floor, but in other episodes his bedroom is on the top floor. Despite a few events making no sense, i think spongebob is a great show for kids and adults to enjoy! Expand

I've always maintained that the first three seasons of Spongebob are some of the best comedy ever done, and some of the best animation ever done. The situations are silly and the characters are all highly lovable. There's a perfect amount of logical fallacies that just add to the nonsensical atmosphere(like lighting a fire underwater). The mix between plot and jokes is wonderful in every episode. IMO, that's the change that made the biggest difference in the switch from Hillenberg to Tibbit. Now episodes are focused on creating a good plot, and then the jokes are lackluster or simply not present. Every single joke in Spongebob hits and hits hard. There's a lot of hidden humor for all ages(such as Spongebob telling Gary not to drop the soap). The animation is superb and the technical quality was pumped up for the second season. The voice acting is also incredible. The biggest strong point is the randomness. "She's so mysterious and majestic. Perhaps I should name her Mystery, or Majesty...or Debbie." And then when he attempts to befriend the seahorse, in one shot he has a mustache for absolutely no reason. There's also a lot of good cultural references and allegories. The most obvious one is the snowball fight episode, which is a reference to the Cold War.
Great jokes, great characters, great situations, great voice acting, great animation. Seasons 1-3 of Spongebob is simply the best cartoon to ever grace television, even above the Simpsons, Looney Tunes, and Adventure Time

All this may not make sense on paper—or anywhere else—but creator Steve Hillenburg (schooled in marine biology as well as animation) has made it a continuing comic delight, wildly imaginative yet never too clever for its own good.
