After I had watched the first series, I had high expectations of the second. I really loved Skins 1 and I can even say it's my favourite TV series. Season 2 really came as a shock to me. The first episode was in the line of the nine episodes of season 1 - I can't complain about that one - but it all starts with the second episode. Really, Maxxie being stalked by a little Welsh - at least, I think she's Welsh - girl who is really obsessing about him and even holds a diary in which she describes whatever Maxxie is doing? I think it's not that realistic.
But in comparison to that, there's even a worse thing that happens in series 2: Michelle and Sid have sex together. In series 1 Sid refuses to have sex, which is totally in line with his character. Now, he does have sex. Why the sudden change? Is it because he has just lost his father? Maybe it is. But in my opinion it is a bit strange. Sid's in love with Cassie - it was clearly stated that he was over Michelle.
Another point for my dismay is the deaths in this series. OK, sometimes there are good seasons to let people die in stories like Skins, but here there wasn't really a reason. Why did Sid's dad have to die? It only brings more darkness and maybe even a bit of sensation to the story. Sensation for sensation's sake can't make me love a series. It's the same with the two sex scenes (Anwar and Sketch, Michelle and Sid): it doesn't really contribute to the storyline and therefore it is sensation seeking.
