While it is a shame that Erlich is gone the show is still pretty funny and maintains most of the energy that it had before tj miller left the show. Worth a watch.

Silicon Valley continues to satisfy year after year. I don't know of ANY other tv series that achieves this level of quality, of hilarity year in and year out. It's like candy for my soul. It gets a 9 instead of a 10 because its usual 10-episode run was only 8 this year.

First two episodes were a bit of a rocky start, but this third episode is reminiscent of Silicon Valley at its peak. Can't wait to see where this season goes.

I have been following Silicon Valley for quite some time. It has never been a exceptional show but keeps you laughing for its sort burst of episodes. Also I like the characters. Season 5 gained pace in the later episodes.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is not the show it used to be. The setup, cast and style of humor as **** almost always will hits the fan. But there is rarely any genuine laugh out loud moments anymore because it is all sort of done and dusted.

But I really do enjoy the show and even if the bar is where it is now for the show, I will keep watcing as many episodes are churned out (tho i hope it ends with a season 7 finale; seems a good place to stop, right?). I will the show credit for innovating smartly on certain areas which may have lacked content going to take current political in and aorund silicon valley to spice things up.

On the overall, there was nothing really memorable except this Five things in honor it being season 5:
    1) Richard 'Dick' Jenkins barfing, pooping and crashing throguh a glass wall as flight response to panic.
    2) Jared being insecure about his looks and getting plastic surgery
    3) Russ Hahnemann's return on a beach combing for a pendrive.
    4) Monice being official member of Team Pied Piper chases down the Richard's new assistant, who has broken and chipped away into nothing but Richard's assistant by Jared with a funny walk and hilarious threat.
    5) The Season finale conclusion which gets preceded ridiculous tripartite **** you over' between Hendricks, Belson and Breamhall & co.

great season, T.J. Miller sealed his fate off camera, so Erlich Bachman is absent this season with a nice twist bringing back an old favorite. the season provides some good twists and some character growth that was much needed. As usual with these shows, there are trials and triumphs I enjoyed what the writers chose this season. I just wish there were more shows (not to reduce qualitygreat season, T.J. Maybe not the most dramatic season, but possibly the funniest one. Loving every minute of it.

It's still my favorite comedy tv-show of all time. Fifth season is as funny as previous seasons. Best.

Erlich’s absence lets Richard’s emerging dark side become more of a central focus for the series. For years, Silicon Valley seemed almost afraid of having Richard succeed, throwing narrative roadblocks in his way to stop him from becoming an all-powerful CEO and to perhaps maintain dramatic tension. The blundering Erlich helped the series in that regard, but now Richard gets to be his own worst enemy. If Season 5’s first episode is any indication, Silicon Valley will be more exciting--and painfully realistic--this way.

The side characters remain terrific--my favorite joke in the premiere may be Laurie’s utter bafflement at Monica complimenting her for the birth of her fourth child only hours earlier--and the show still has a gift for constructing comic set pieces like the black site-style office Richard tried to show the guys in the premiere’s opening. But the series was already reaching the point of diminishing returns last year, and appears to have arrived there now.

A lot of what’s happening in Season 5 feels like old hat.
