It was a normal day of the life of Sakai Yuuji. When all of the sudden, his life changes when a Monster called "Tomogara" attacks him and everyone around him. It was a normal day of the life of Sakai Yuuji. When all of the sudden, his life changes when a Monster called "Tomogara" attacks him and everyone around him. He was confused and shocked because everyone around him was turned into a blue flame and being consumed by the monster. Yuuji's life was then saved by a girl in a black coat, with Burning Eyes (also known as Shakugan) and flaming red hair holding a long sword. Due to the confusion and chaotic mess Yuuji gotten into, he follows the girl with the flaming red hair and finds out the truth about everything around him.

I actually really liked season 1 of this show. It starts off a little flat, but does get it bearings after the first few episodes. Considering this came out in 2005, it looks really good and the dubbed voice acting for the time is pretty decent.

I utterly love Shana. She has to be one of my favorite anime characters EVER! She's both a hardcore badass, and yet incredibly sweet at the same time. It's really nice to see such a strong character with such ordinary problems.

A shame I can not say the same for the rest of the cast. Most of the other characters aren't anywhere near as developed as Shana, including the male lead (who is a bit bland.) However, the last third of the season does give them allot more attention and makes them stand out more, just a shame it wasn't done sooner. Hopefully season 2 will rectify this.

Overall:
Shakugan No Shana is a little rough around the edges at first, but it does pay off to watch the show through to the end. I'm really looking forward to watching seasons 2 & 3.… Expand
