So glad marvel took this show in a darker direction. They are finally realize ing that we aren’t kids anymore. The suspense of this show is great and it’s awesome to see Nick fury back in action.

Secret Invasion is definitely ranked among the top tier of Marvel tv series, with Marvel taking a darker and more mature direction is one of the highlights of the show. Really looking forward to the rest of the episodes.

tbh i love this show. it has done what most of the other marvel shows fail to do. Which is, engage the audience on a deeper level. Hats off to the director, studio, cast, and crew.

Obviously, we need more episodes to fully assess the show. So far it succeeds as a great spy thriller, but the editing and production seem to be lacking.

Solid Marvel series that gives a glimpse of what’s to come. I just can’t help it. I like everything Sci-Fi and Marvel.

Enjoyable performances and skrull stories for the kick off of the series. That being said, it does feel like a bunch of things we have already seen.

Secret Invasion, is certainly an intriguing and unique marvel show that grounds itself in a lot of interesting ideas. It's not the greatest marvel show nor is it a must watch, but it's decent, it's enjoyable.

The problem is that it excels at none of this thing: the shallow Disney writing, complete lack of tension in both the scenario, cinematography or dialogues, does no fit the bill it aims at. And understandably so, since making a political action/spy movie is a tricky, high-level exercise that you can either make up for with the usual mystery, suspens and spook you find in an alien invasion movie or the magical, dumb action and humor of a hero movie, none of which this series has. In fact Secret Invasion is such a niche comic series that hardly ties into the actual MCU events, that it's a mystery why they would even produce the show in the stead of the countless interesting series or even stand-alone there are in the Marvel universe. I appreciated the acknowledgment of the politics in the series, but the shallowness is still a sign of the complete destruction operated in cinema and TV by the handful of mediocre, consanguinous (nepotic or not) exec imposters who haven't finished destroying the whole of american's once brilliant entertainment soft-power... Marvel's latest attempt at the spy genre. A little too short to invest in the characters and stories, and a little too easy on the suspension. However, Samuel L. Jackson's performance and character development is a highlight, and it helps to expand the story on Earth. But to become the flagship of the MCU TV series, the plot might need a lot more twists than you think.

It's nice for a change for Marvel to have a more mature show, but at least the first episode feels uninspired, almost copying what The Falcon and the Winter Soldier did. I hope the rest of the series tries new things.

Unimpressed. This is the first MCU show that I would not leave a green score for (yes, you read that right). While I didn’t hate the whole thing, the series was overall a massive letdown.

Despite featuring moments of great tension and character exchanges, Secret Invasion ends up being an unexpected mess the further the narrative progresses. Each unexplained detail is worse than the last, culminating in the final episode being one of the worst MCU narrative decisions made so far.

It is far weaker than the “Secret Invasion” comics, a bit incoherent and I asked myself if this is a character assassination for Nick Fury (or downgrade?). Before he was an awesome bad ass. He was always prepared, rarely outsmarted, had backup plans for nearly everything and information's were his super weapon. Here they use again the aged hero that is a shell of his former self trope. The former MCU Nick Fury and his comics counterpart I would never want as enemy like I would not oppose Thrawn, Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes or Hercules Poirot to name a few. This one here in the show is neither intimidating or capable enough to reach that level (Wont spoil what they did to him in the show). Now to the “Secret Invasion” comics. These were awesome. The super heroes were unaware of it until Electra (from Daredevil) died and turned into a Skrull. Neither the telepathic heroes, nor the spider sense or even Wolverines enhanced senses could tell something was off. You did not know who was a Skrull posing as hero and what their agenda was. They used this for a fantastically good journey. Here it is neither that serious or intense that it created the dread and suspicion of the source material. To be fair in some scene they archive it but use it sparingly just as gimmick. I like the actors and would praise their performance. Samual Jackson, a strong and awesome Ben Mendelson, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Emilia Clarke are just too good. However there is a bit overacting like the museum scene and the story is a bit incoherent. If there were reshoots and heavy editing it would explain a bit. Especially Emilia Clarke’s characters motivations and actions are puzzling to understand. The special effects are fine for me. I stopped watching after episode 3 as it was not interesting enough (Had to force me to watch it even). Overall I think it is not awful except what they did to Nick Fury to be rated trash. However it is not good enough either for a higher rating. A 5/10 seems fair. Expand

Because Marvel takes so long to tell a story I often feel like we only get part of a story. While they do tell the audience about these gaps in time, they never show them. I can't imagine being someone who hasn't seen all the marvel properties and watching this. Maybe that would make the experience better. For me it was a challenge to justify the actions of these characters (and I'm trying to ignore how different this is from the comic book run in both plot and theme).
If the show improves as the series continues, I will adjust this score. However, for now the lack of convincing motivations, emotionless acting, dropped plot lines, and unconvincing objectives make this the worst marvel offering.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This series shows sparks of greatness -- there are some really good parts -- but they all fizzle out before it gets really good. Colmans character is so incredibly awesome. SLJ's Nick Fury--awesome. Unfortunately, the nature of shapeshifting creates far too many plot holes. It's absolutely poor development to give a shapeshifter unlimited shapeshifting ability but give the audience no way to know how a Skrull knows a Skrull is a Skrull. Secret Invasion season 1 screenwriting feels first draft kind of quality. Before going to production, the script needs to be fine-tuned.

    !!!Spoilers!!!

Colonel Roades as a Skrull, but no Ironman suit is incredibly boring.

Im predicting that the twist near the end of the series is that the "rebel" Skrulls have experienced of racism from humans and how that hurt their feelings and this is just them fighting back. Going to be just like the Dr Who story from 2015, The Zygon Invasion.

High quality production values and excellent cast wasted with a terrible screenplay and uninspired direction and editing. Apparently somebody thought changing the nature of nick fury's character after 10+ movies was a smart choice. I felt sleepy watching this dull trash. Avoid!

Tedious and boring. When even the presence of Nick Fury and Maria Hill elicits yawns, something has gone terribly wrong. Olivia Colman was great, though. I'd watch a series based around her character, as long as the writing was decent.

    Otra pena...

After the first episode it makes me wonder, did the actors even want to be in this? I guess it would be possible to make a more boring first episode, but I can't see how. From what I remember this doesn't resemble the comic material. I just don't understand why you buy Marvel, and then change everything that made it successful.

Honestly without question the worst MCU miniseries to date.

It wasn't even bad in an interesting way. It was just blad, boring, cheap and dull.

Making the mother of dragons into a main character was also a really stupid idea. No one is going to ever see her as is anything else the Daenerys Targaryen.

Marvel buffs will be able to collect their fair share of Easter eggs, but this one can be enjoyed by a PG-13-suitable crowd that prefers action (this one is pretty violent, though) with a relatable plot that doesn’t require you to watch all in the MCU canon to understand what is going on. In supporting roles, Kingsley Ben-Adir stands out in this promising leap forward for Phase 5 of the MCU.
