While it’s not an investigation per se, we appreciate the strong journalistic approach Reckoning takes, using direct quotes and personal experience, wherever it can, to establish historic, scary patterns in Combs’ behavior. At the same time, director Alexandria Stapleton is an artful builder of tension, which makes Reckoning eminently watchable.

Many of these allegations are addressed in Sean Combs: The Reckoning. And while this means that the series isn’t a pleasant watch, it does feel like a grimly necessary one. Over the course of four episodes, the director, Alexandria Stapleton, paints a pattern of behaviour that starts to feel horribly inevitable.

While The Reckoning is a well-crafted series about the rise and fall of Combs, it is relentless. .... It’s disappointing not to see more time spent on the 2025 mammoth legal battle that ends the series: United States of America v. Sean Combs.

It’s a disturbing insight into the mind of a man who thought he was superhuman and could not quite process what was happening as the walls closed in and he was finally reminded of just how mortal he truly was. It’s just a shame this long-winded film – stuffed with overwhelming details – could not get to the point more quickly.

How much you want to spend four hours in the company of depressing allegations probably depends on how interested you are in Combs the rapper.
