There were fleeting moments of interesting content in season 3 but the amount of ridiculous red herrings, an obvious killer and a 'oh that's the killer' moment doesn't feel fresh at all. What I did enjoy was incorporating an original story. Full Review »

After the failing ratings for the second season, the people up top got cold feet about the show and did an interesting thing I haven't seenAfter the failing ratings for the second season, the people up top got cold feet about the show and did an interesting thing I haven't seen before: they turned a show with a continuing storyline into an anthology show. They completely rebooted Scream with a new showrunner for a self-contained season. I was disappointed about the basic cancellation of the original series. I liked the characters and there still were open plot threads. However, I was willing to give the new season a chance. Of course there were rights issues or something, and the actual release after filming was delayed a couple years. After all this time, I'm pleased to say that I found this to be worth the wait and liked this as much as the first.

The first episode starts off a little awkwardly. There are several bad lines, but they're cut down by half in the next episode, and then become rare with the remaining episodes.

Overall, I felt this to be rather well done with some interesting plot ideas. The setting takes place in the city, which is an interesting change considering that the show and several of the films focused on small town life. There is more of an emphasis on social issues (without overtaking the story.) Being only six episodes long, this is a lot better paced than the previous story and doesn't suffer from poised questions that don't get answered within the season. Cast, which includes the Power Rangers movie's RJ Cyler and Keke Palmer, and characters are mostly strong.

The only thing I really didn't feel this did as strongly as the previous seasons is that Resurrection didn't have quite the visual kick.

The stories in this show are good in different ways. Don't walk into this comparing it with the original seasons. Also, bear in mind this is teen horror and not Shakespeare. I think you can have a good time.
