Sporadically clever and requisitely gory - but still awkward and forced - more than ever, Scream the TV series will work wonders if you can just forget Scream the movie series ever happened.

I wanted to wait until the very end of the season to write this review. Although it does start with a lot of great ideas and cool deathI wanted to wait until the very end of the season to write this review. Although it does start with a lot of great ideas and cool death scenes, season 2 of "Scream: The Series" is slow and unable to take risks. Also add in the fact that most of the actors treat the script like they are auditioning for a high school play and you get another dud on your hands. Full Review »

Last season of "Scream: The TV Series" had a very special ability to appeal to all viewers fanatically, mainly due to it's lack of risks and non-intelligent, too easy to understand, plot. However, critically speaking, "Scream: Season 1" didn't really succeed critically, nor fail critically, either. This is, indeed, because of how critically plane and average season one was, due to the previously mentioned; A lack of risk taking, which causes an apparent loss of originality, a too coherent story to tell, causing people to think the plot is rather basic, amateur-like, and not risky enough.

I mean, the ending of "Scream: Season 1" is arguably the ending of "Scream 3" in a nutshell, not to mention how dumb and unrealistic some the character's dialogue and decisions are, (in a non-satirical way, albeit) which are used to progress huge pieces of plot, which comes off as a lazy on the writers' part.

On the other hand, "Scream: Season 2" doesn't lose anything much that was positive about season 1, besides the fact that the plot has finally become more interesting in an intelligent, risky, and more original way that critics, and most fans, will respect in the end. In continuance, "Scream: Season 2" has, in all, improved exponentially in many ways. First off, the writers kill off a main character in the first episode, which is most definitely impressing due to the fact that this kills about 5 birds with one stone, per se.

It gets rid of Tom Maden (Jake), indeed the worst actor of the whole cast, while furthermore utilizing Jake's death in every way possible to develop characters and progress the story. For example, the death of Jake is used as a sort of crutch that is progressing Brooke's and Audrey's, plotlines in very complex and diverse ways. It also brings realism to the show, as no characters, obviously besides the killer and Audrey, who was apparently a killer last season, are aware of Jake's death from the season 2 premiere until a cliffhanger ending in episode 4.

In continuance, between Jake's death and the episode 4 cliffhanger, Jake's death is utilized even more, as the killer threatens to frame Audrey for Jake's death with a hidden camera in the storage unit where Audrey finds Jake's dead body after being blackmailed into visiting the storage unit for an apparent surprise from the killer.

All of this is, figuratively, just the icing on the cake of "Scream: Season 2", as we have only seen 4 episodes which haven't very much disappointed at all, in contrast to "Scream: Season 1"
