Despite of bending various facts quite to an extreme, it is a pleasant watch, as the feelings between uncommon type of people is the real center of attraction here. Really good acting and plot.

To my opinion, this tv show lacks popularity !
If I'm not mistaken, only 8% of the US population watched this.
And only 5% in France ! The episodes are well done, we don't get bored watching any of them. The characters truly evolve from the beginning until the end of the show. This tv show has lots of funny moments and funny replies : We can't have both else where. What a pity !

The characters truly evolve from the beginning until the end of the show.

This tv show has lots of funny moments and funny replies : We can't have both else where. What a pity ! For instance, the characters disguise themselves so that they solve an issue. The jokes are always teasing another character and are appropriate. In most cases, a character's statement is going to be disproved right after it's been stated; i.e. "I can assure you that nothing's going to explode !" and "kaboom", right after the sentence, sthg goes off !

It was very pleasant to get to know several actors and actresses we didn't know existed; all of them are very talented. Of course, one might have heard the name Robert Patrick before? Sure I did since I simply love Doggett's part in the X files (I deeply miss him in the last 2 seasons of the XF, btw).

What's striking in this tv show is that it's action-centered, still it's still (somewhat) realistic or coherent. May I remind you that everything we can see on screen is based on the real Walter O'Brien's company and experiences (of course, details have been changed) like names, dates, locations, but the fact did happen).

What appealed to me most, I guess, was the fact that this tv show didn't stage any violence. On the contrary, we focus on problem-solving, problematic issues, as well as character's progress.

One of the scarcest tv shows which is actually family-friendly.

On top of that, the show has lots of good intentions.

Ever since I watched the 1st episode on tv, I've been a fanboy (xd).
Of course, as one can easily understand, I deeply and bitterly regret CBS brutally stopped the show (so no season 5 even though the real Walter O'Brien had 25 years of stories, adventures etc to inject in the show... What a pity, what a waste... 25 years of team , I'd definitely say "SO SAY WE ALL !", it's another tv show)
And by the way, the real Walter O'Brien got involved in the show's creation process.
I'm so disappointed that I even decided to boycott CBS from now on !

Indeed, this tv show focuses on a group of geniuses,
but, don't worry, the character's chattings are neither too specialised nor too long.

Unlike many other shows, all main characters are interesting, and one doesn't outshine the other. All the 6 characters are compatible.

I don't even know if this tv show claims it but it's also a wonderful ode to diversity :
On the 6 main charactes, 1 / 3rd are females.
1 recurring character is quite old,
1 second role is a child,
in this 1 / 3rd female casting, we have 1 Asian woman (let's keep things at a simple level).
And, eventually, 1 of the 4 recurring males is obese.
The main message conveyed by this show, I think, is : Don't judge a book on its cover, but judge the others on their intellectual skills (nice warning and reminder so that we accept the others, eventually !!).

A very friendly and easy-to-talk-to fanbase on social medias.
There are also tons of fan fictions on the net too.

I quite like the staff roll music, which is remixed several times throughout the seasons.

It's a one-of-a-kind tv show I've been honored and pleased to watch, from the beginning until the prematured end of it !
Thank you all for doing such a great work and show !!
And thank you, for reading such a big review !!

As much as I like this show, it's suffering from severe plot predictability and an over reliance on the whatever can go wrong will trope. For a show about a bunch of geniuses, the writing and characterizations certainly aren't very smart.

It's great. It includes a lot of math, physics and science content, and a lot of people enjoy that. Their adventures are unique and entertaining. Every episode brings something new for you to watch and relax. It's an amazing show and I hope it stays on for as long as possible. The characters are fun and cool, they make some good jokes. They're also geniuses, which makes it even better to watch.

It's BAD or OK depending what you're looking for. definately has no realistic involvement anymore. Sort of sci-fi slice of life comedy with some drama. I guess you're either a fan or you trash it. Not a fan. But then again lots of people watching the kardashians so.. any show has a chance LOL

There is a lot of fiction there; however I like the loyalty, care and team work. I did not like much when Page was acting bad with Walter, going out with Tim, finally things change for the best, wondering when is going to be the continue of the the show. I think still have more to give.

Written-for-screen geniuses are becoming textbook archetypes: Never a balance of smart, successful and good looking, no, these characters require conflict, with the opportunity for underdog wins and showing the bullies up from high school. Thus, they require social problems. Big ones, with impressive (but not obscure) names, and walls to keep the well-meaners out, built up through rough childhoods and curve ball, ptsd-inducing moments in their lives. You don't get to be smart unless you faint trying to order coffee, it seems.

Out of this mold drops the characters of Scorpion, the ballad of massive intellect standing as America's last line of defense against ridiculous problems involving, most often, the wrong install files, old technology and those foolish enough to attempt using email.

Elyes Gabel plays Walter O'Brein, boasting an IQ of 197 and social interaction problems which vanish after the first episode, heads up Scorpion, a company of smart people that solve problems too complex for 'normals' (that's you and me).

He's joined by Happy Quinn (Jadyn Wong, who is listed first because she'd be angry otherwise), the teams resident "mechanical genius" who talks about tools a lot with a gab that makes her sound like she's got a mouth full of gum, Toby Curtis (Eddie Kaye Thomas), behaviorist and mouthy wannabe front man, Sylvester Dodd (Ari Stidham), the funny fat guy that makes childlike noises and talks endlessly... I think he was good at math too... Agent Cabe Gallo (Robert Patrick), their gravelly government handler and father figure, and Paige Dineen (Katherine McPhee), the Penny of the group. That's a Big Bang reference, and is somewhat unfair. McPhee actually plays 'professionally insecure Penny', the person Penny would be if her job depending on not telling the not-dumb people how ridiculous their issues are.

It's best to go no further before stating I'm a Big Bang fan (Nowadays this seems to be something you have to lead with when discussing this sort of thing. Massive polarization exists). But this is important, because Scorpion is too. Huge fan! Its actually hard not to be because, despite what your smarter big brother says, the science in Big Bang is sound, the stories easy to follow and the concept quite natural. Their social interaction shortcomings are also very well realized. Yes, this dropped off later on because, as characters were introduced and their lives evolved, they too grew. Howard is no longer a perv because he has someone that sees the best in him. But remnants remain: Despite his louder nature, Leonard still wrings his hands in a worrisome manner. Sheldon is, and will always be, a tremendously well written and well played character, with parts of him seemingly misaligned that are, in all truthfulness, defective aspects of him that will never be fixed. This evolution is also a key aspect of why it's still enjoyable to watch. Big Bang is not the original if you look hard enough, but is broadly appreciated for a number of very valid reasons. And the writers of Scorpion struggle with their feelings, because they can do smart people better, dammit!

My biggest problem with Scorpion is a weak one, even I'm prepared to admit, but it's the truth: I don't know anyone like these people. This is important because I do know intelligent people. An assessment of my immediate acquaintance circle reveals that I know a great deal more smart people, statistically, than I should: Aeronautical engineers, Bio-mechs, Doctors, Actuarial Science graduates. This is a product of my territory endeavours, so it's not surprising, but the truth is that smart people, like 'normals', come in every flavour you can imagine. Almost including the characters in Scorpion. Almost. They're broken, and it's got everything to do with the intentional way they've been written. Their issues do not prevent them from functioning, and functioning well, yet we are constantly reminded they are broken, in need of protecting by Super-Walter. You can't have it both ways.

Scorpion also feels resoundingly racist. In the figurative sense, mind, but nevertheless, not on episode goes by without the reminder that these four (four and half if you count the kid. Name escapes me. Hardly important) are an entirely separate species to the rest of us 'normals'. This backfired, because it comes across as a supremacist attitude, and that's poor.

The science in Scorpion is concise if a little too textbook, for what it's worth. But none of it is massively clever, which makes the continual 'normal' talk unfounded. What they accomplish with a bit of math is not inconceivable and what Happy occasionally builds is hardly genius. The key word here for improvement would be "spectrum", and appreciating that, even when you have problems interacting with people, being intelligent doesn't make you obnoxious. Thinking you are does.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Firstly I'll say it's an entertaining show if you can overlook all the parts that don't make sense (or dont' know they don't make sense). The premise for the show is very good, but the execution is terrible. Surely to write about geniuses and highly complex problems the writers should have hired some sort of consultant. Maybe a psychologist who works with gifted individuals, or someone who is a genius hacker themselves, etc. If Bones and Big Bang Theory can do it, I'm sure this show can too.
The condescension of the main character, Walter, is completely over the top. Yes, he's meant to be incredibly smart, but too much condescension just alienates the audience. He doesn't need to remind the audience regularly that he has a 197 IQ. Also there's the assumption that all geniuses are socially inept. Actually, I'm most of the way through season 1 and I haven't seen him do anything yet that is actually representative of an extremely high IQ and not possible from someone merely with good computer/hacking skills.
And don't even get me started on the kid, Ralph. A mentally gifted kid belonging to a mother who is completely clueless. By the age of 10, there would have been glaring signs that there was something unusual about this child. Even if he is withdrawn, a teacher would probably have recommended to have him checked for autism spectrum, or an IQ test. I've heard of cases of children teaching themselves to read at much younger ages that alerted their parents. And then there's the fact that apparently a socially inept genius is the best person to help her understand her son, rather than seeking professional help or programs to support the development of a gifted child.
The next thing, and this really made me laugh, was watching one of the computers in an episode loading Windows 8. If you know anything about computers and programming (even in theory), you'll know this is laughable. Firstly, Windows 8 was **** Secondly, anyone serious about computers/programming/hacking would not be using Windows at all (more likely Linux or other open source operating system).
There's plenty of other inconsistencies, but these are some of the stupid ones that have stuck with me, and prevent me from being able to enjoy the show fully.
Basically, if you don't know enough about what they're talking about to know it's wrong, then you might find it plausible.

The main problem with the show is that in order for these uber-nerds to be faced with a representable 'challenge', the scriptwriters have to conjur up blatantly implausible schemes for them to overcome. Unfortunately this renders the show completely unbelievable, and as such (even as escapist entertainment) you sit watching and thinking 'oh, please....' at every macgyver-esque method someone in the team comes up with.
The suspense is maintained by a near constant barrage of new problems as the episode unfolds, but regardless of the inherent 'threat' to the characters' safety, the good old 'nick of time' escape trope saves the day.
The overarching story elements, that pervade the series as a whole, are bland and uninspired too.
Put all this together, and you'd normally get a show which I'd rate 2, or possibly 3 (at a pinch), but...
The show is held together by very good acting performances from the core cast, which elevates it somewhat. Despite the silliness and 'will they/won't they' nature to not 1, but 2 potential romances, the sincerity of the characters is worth investing in.
Now we're well into Series 2, we're beginning to see more internal conflicts show up, which is good...
But the relegation of the 'Ralph' character (the waitress' 9 year old, genius son) from being an integral part of the overall narrative, to a mere 'we'll write him into a script in order to facilitate a specific plot' recurring character has disappointed me immensely.

Dumb show about smart people. Jadyn Wong's speech is a constant battle between her over-enunciation and flat delivery. It is distracting, annoying and just draws more attention to her inability to act.
Eddie Kaye Thomas and Elyes Gabel are not believable even as Applestore geniuses but can at least make there way through the scenes.
Ari Stidham is the best thing on this show.

Page and Walter together are opposites and they are definitely attracted. The whole teach of geniuses are over the top in there phobias which makes the show fun and interesting.

This show is amazing and the characters are portrayed by very talented actors. I love this show. I'm disgusted with the "Critics" and why they have so many mixed reviews on this show. Do they even take interest in this genre of a show? Do they even know what the hell they are talking about? Did they even give the show a try? Every time I watch this show, it sucks me right in.

People are afraid of things they don't know so they try to hide from it by making fun of it and shaming other people that like it. People need to give things a chance. If you don't like something then you can move along quietly and try not to ruin it for everyone else. Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to make fun of everything you don't like. You may dislike it, you may feel an utmost hatred against it, you can just walk away. For others, the smart and the socially awkward, things like this show give us a sense of belonging, a feeling of hope and joy, a home away from stupidity, and most importantly something we can relate to that makes us realize that we aren't alone, we aren't outcasts, we aren't trash, we.. are people, we.. have feelings, we.. are better than you but don't constantly remind you of your stupidity, we.. are the people that build the things that allow you to say how stupid we are, so stop acting like you're 12 and learn to respect the people that make your lives great even though you may not see it, and even though you may not like us, a little bit of kindness and lack of stupidity can go a long way in someone 's life and make the world a better place. I had such high hopes for this show in the beginning. Unfortunately it has not lived up to its own premise. Each and every episode has technical or scientific errors that the slightest bit of knowledge or research would prevent. For a show that is supposed to be about the science, it is a sad farce of made up facts and technology.

One of the first episodes had a common Hollywood misconception cast as the technology that saved the day. A floating cloud of pathogen was dispersed by setting off the fire sprinkler system in a mall. Unfortunately, causing one sprinkler head to discharge does not set off the entire system. Each head has a fusible trigger that will open that head alone. Sprinkler systems are also designed to function with the assumption that ten heads or less will control the fire. Even if there are hundreds of heads in the structure, if more then ten activate, the system will likely not have enough to supply them efficiently.

The recent episode called “Dominoes” was full of ridiculous errors or bad logic. Allow me to name just a few:
The void space, in which the child was trapped, was supposedly filling at a rate of “30 gallons a minute.” This is a very manageably low amount. It would be relatively to remove that amount with a very small portable pump or two. Most fire trucks carry these kinds of sump pumps.
Most fire departments also carry lift air bags. These are very effective at lifting things such as rocks and vehicles. They can work on any shape of object, take up very little space, and present no vibration issues.
Even if one is able to connect a machine to oxygenate the blood, the amount of air in the system must be removed. This takes blood from the bank or the patient’s blood. The amount of air in the lines would kill the patient if introduced into the bloodstream. The amount of blood removed, to fill the tubes, would likely send the child into shock.
A hydraulic jack could easily lift the bolder from the child’s leg, but that would be too easy. It had to be a tiny hand turned spreader. Wouldn’t any car screw jack had done the exact same thing?

I could probably go on and on. I could point out errors in other episodes. (Knocking the cap off a fire hydrant will not cause water to gush forth. Hydrants don’t work that way.) I could talk about how dangerous it is for Happy to be welding in an open room without flash curtains to protect the people. (How on earth can Sylvester, who looks for risk everywhere, allow this?)

It constantly tried to remind you that it's bland characters are smart an intelligent, even though actual genius is never really demonstrated. It's kind of like the show is just telling you to take it's word for it, and it pretty much treats it's viewers like the morons that they probably are. Looking at it objectively, nothing these characters do screams ingenuity, and all of their knowledge and wit is something that anybody can lookup on the internet.

I don't often compare one show to another, but there is a different show that displays an actual genius and does it in a way that makes you think "Wow!", and that is 'Sherlock/Elementary' (depending on which Sherlock version you prefer). In those shows, the genius of the main character is not merely told to the viewer, but demonstrated in a way that feels authentic and genuinely intelligent.

Then you have 'Scorpion', a show where the genius of the characters is told rather than shown, and isn't even told well. The dialogue is uncreative, the acting is wooden (especially from the main character, Walter), and the subtle romance being hinted at in the plot is so forced and artificial that it is impossible to take seriously.

But that can be said about the entire series: It's artificial and impossible to take seriously. The characters do not bounce off of each other in an effective manner and deliver dialogue that comes off in such an unnatural way. Nothing about this series feels natural or genuine; it is a typical procedural drama that is not only bland, but deceitful to the viewer by way of it's storytelling.

The opening tagline to each episode is "Inspired by the life of Walter O'Brien."

Not only is that tagline insulting to the intelligence of the viewer, but it is as hollow and empty as they come.

It is obvious that this show is catered to dumb people because Walter O'Brian (the main character) has to remind the audience every 5 minutes that his IQ is 197. You would think being that smart, and with how much money is spent per episode CBS could afford some fact checkers or even professionals that knew how to do proper editing to prevent continuity errors in post production. Unfortunately this is not the case even though CBS does spend the money to make sure that the Big Bang Theory is factually accurate for its geek fans.

O'Brian is so smart and loves condescending his targeted audience that he wraps his giant turd of a show in tin foil and tries to sell it as gold. I was looking forward to enjoying this show but it pushes the "Based on a true story" line well beyond its intended meaning.

It seems to me that CBS it the real sucker for producing Scorpion. Scorpion serves a huge advertisement for O'Brian's company while the script barely manages to attain the IQ of a peanut. Consider that one of the main producers of the show is Justin Beiber's manager (Scooter Braun), and that should be enough to realize this show is a joke.

To be honest, I am pulling for this show to be renewed so that my software engineering friends and I can enjoy our weekly drinking game, not to mention I hope CBS continues to overpay for this travesty. If you are dumb enough to pay for and produce this show you deserve to be milked. If there is one thing this show demonstrates is if your IQ is high enough you can be as big a jerk as you want to without any real life consequences (what a great lesson to teach young geniuses).

As a final note, wth is Katharine McPhee doing on this show? The cast is horrible, but her character totally takes it over the top. Greatest show evar!!!!!

Writing: The writing is simultaneously extremely good and extremely bad. As far as writing out smart characters, they do a terrible job. Its almost as if you're looking at someone who is repeating a fact that they read "Ah, it says here that the smartest people in the world are socially inept" and so they have their characters talk about being socially inept every episode, without actually showing it.

On the other hand though, it excels at creating unique situations, and having them solve those problems. Sometimes they reach extra far to include the skills of everyone on the team for every problem, but overall its entertaining, provides happy feelings, and a solid story. More then enough to ask for from a tv show.

Acting: The acting is believable but not over the top. Don't expect all-star performances, but it's certainly better then 50% of what it currently on tv, and it won't distract you from following the show

Filming: The filming is on the higher end of things. They actually capture the action and what is happening, rather then diluting the plot with stupid special effects. You can always follow the story without having to deal with the nonsense of the filming.

In reality, I would only rate this show an 8.5, and not a 10. But after reading the nonsense in the multiple Zero's posted, I feel as though it needs a 10 just to balance out the stupidity of the other reviews. I would recommend watching more than the pilot episode before making your decision, and I would recommend not attempting to judge the tv show on their jargon/interpretation of intelligence (You will never find a show that does a good job)

I completely enjoyed the "McGyver" and "A-Team" type shows of the 80's and am OK having more shows like them. However, that being said, the Scorpion writers could stand using a consultant or two - especially for the tech and psychobabble. However, that being said, the Scorpion writers could stand using a consultant or two - especially for the tech and psychobabble. Entertainment is better if you don't have to fight quite so hard to get past the flaws (think ER). Here are my 2 biggest issues:
1: For an uber-brilliant dude who can't fit into society Walter has too many flashes of "TV drama hero" (think the firefighters on Chicago Fire, or even DiNozzo from NCIS). If he feels he must emulate someone like that he should think at least a little more like NCIS's McGee instead! The problem with coming on after Big Bang is the audience may have a tendency to think of "Sheldon" when relating to an incredibly smart person with social issues and Walter is not Sheldon. But neither is he a seasoned agent/officer/criminal investigator. BBT moving back to Thursday's may help a little in that aspect but they need to help Walter find his own character and fit.
2: Happy's voice. I can't stand listening to that woman speak. That character and set of skills could be filled in so many different ways, why her? I understand the need to give Paige (our "normal" character) another female to bond with - so go get a different actress.

Mostly, the writers need to use more consultants and we need to allow the group to gel and the show to grow (and please God, make them stop saying how smart they are all the time - we get it!). Give it a full season or two - some of the best shows out there were slow starters.

The useless writers have absolutely no idea how the world works and their only had the ending of the episode in mind, how they managed to get there or how many horrendous mistakes were made to get there were irrelevant to them. BUT NOT TO US VIEWERS!.

Jlm978 has the airport angle pretty well covered so I'll not rehash that, but what ticked me off the most was that a tiny car speaker apparently has the power to erase a hard drive. Even a super powerful electromagnetic crane can't destroy a hard drive, so how can any speaker possibly achieve that?

Secondly it was calculated that a 500 000v surge would disable the door lock. Apart from the fact that even if that surge destroyed the electronics in that lock it only took a couple of switch toggles to magically achieve that.

This show is absolutely preposterous and have no link to reality.
I like TV as much as the next man, but if I am so blatantly lied to, how do they expect me to enjoy it or continue watching?

What they should have done is base it on a single kernel of truth and expand from that. Not thumb suck everything.

I'll try the second episode tonight, but I do not have high hopes for this series. People don't like to be lied to this badly. I do hope tonight's episode redeems it, if not, it will be just another one series wonder.

I do hope Sheldon Cooper makes fun of this in The Big Bang Theory.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. "Scorpion" I wanted to like ya but I just cant. I have watched the first two episodes and its just not doing it for me. The basic premise is a group of geniuses are working with the US government to save us dumb slobs each week from some calamity. First it was all the planes falling out of the sky. Next it was saving a governor's daughter from death by biocyberterrorism. The Scorpion team is composed of Walter (the main character), a behaviorist (whatever that is), a mechanical genius, and a human calculator. Uhh why do we need a human calculator? Its a cool parlor trick but if I need a calculator, I'll just use my phone. They are joined by a whizkid and his normal mom. They will help her understand her gifted son. Their FBI handler is also there to keep them in line and interface with the government and the other "normal folks". The plot of the plane episode was laughable to me. If you cant communicate with the plane's radio but you can get the pilot on his cell phone, just give him directions that way on how to land the plane... but nooooo. That would be too easy. Anyway poor Katharine McPhee is probably trying to figure out how she can get off this show as soon as possible. And am I sure "Scorpion" is a sinking ship? Yes, it doesnt take a genius to figure that out. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was disappointed in the pilot for this show. It started with an interesting premise (4 misfit geniuses doing a combined McGyver / A-Team / Mentalist / 24 kind of hybrid), with hopefully some cool effects and maybe even some decent character development. What the pilot turned into was, unfortunately, a mish-mash of rapid-fire techno babble overlaid onto a series of the worst misrepresentations of aviation that I've ever seen on screen.

I'll just mention a couple of the glaringly stupid things in the pilot. First, commercial aircraft aren't really "controlled" by the ATC system in a technical sense. The controllers and equipment that are part of ATC give instructions to the pilots, based on airspace category and workload, who then execute them if they are able. The aircraft pilots in command are the final authority on aircraft operation and safety. They will not simply orbit helplessly because they can't raise approach/departure control at LAX.

If the ATC system for LAX and satellite facilities does go down (which is almost impossible anyway), the pilots of the 56 aircraft in the vicinity will simply go somewhere else. In Southern California there are a plethora of large airports within 30 minutes flight time from LAX. San Diego, Ontario, San Bernadino, Burbank, not to mention Mojave, Palmdale, Edwards. Pilots will simply divert to an alternate airfield.

Just because the ATC system for LAX goes down doesn't mean that all of the aircraft in the vicinity will suddenly lose communications. Most aircraft communications are actually by VHF/UHF radio, with pre-established frequencies for every aviation entity involved in their flight. So if you can't get ahold of LAX approach control, you can simply call up San Diego control. You can call up the dispatcher for your airline, you can communicate with other aircraft on the LAX tower frequencies, or in a pinch, use the guard frequency (121.5 Mhz). In other words, the word will get out very quickly that LAX is closed and they should find an alternate.

There are even procedures in the event that all radio comms are lost. In every control tower is a hand-held light gun, which the controllers can use to give basic landing clearance to aircraft. The show depicted a clear day, all the pilots need for a VFR landing is a clear runway and a green signal from the tower light gun.

Finally, there are no F-22's on alert near LAX to intercept wayward commercial aircraft. Even assuming those aircraft were available, their first priority in an intercept would be to establish communication, not shoot down civil airliners. Again, the very first thing the pilots of those fighters would do would be to communicate with the airliners on the guard frequency (121.5 Mhz), and if that didn't work, approach/departure and tower frequencies for LAX. Absent that, hand gestures to "land now" or "follow me" can also be used.

Oh, and air traffic control software is not installed on aircraft, nothing on a commercial airliner is ethernet/laptop compatible, and the turbulence of an airliner in ground effect would blow that Ferrari off the runway.

The executives who made and promoted this show should be embarrassed that they didn't shell out a few extra bucks for an actual aviation consultant who could have told them how ridiculous the premise was. They have already lost me as a viewer.

'Single Point of Failure' is an apt term for this show, since the writers are the single point of failure. It continues to amaze me that people (the average viewer) will accept fantasies like a person walking up to a random laptop and within seconds of furiously typing on the keyboard, terminal windows come up as the person is magically writing code (all of which is nonsensical, if you watch the method names) which streams up the page and the genius quickly concludes that the virus is unique to this one laptop. I mean, MAYBE 3-4 seconds later. Seriously? CBS, you need to either jettison this show (which would be a shame) or jettison the writers. I vote to eject the writers. I'm dropping this from a 3 to a 2. When it gets to 1, I just quit.

Originally: Sorry, I really wanted to like this, but it's so poorly written! The writers try to use big words and phrases and hope no one notices, and hope that we all just go along for the ride. However, anyone slightly tech-savvy will groan every time they hear something silly like "after I update the antenna driver to boost the signal" or "the backup will be overwritten in three minutes" or make assumptions like "restarting the server will be immediate."

What's shocking is that this is the same network that produces Big Bang Theory, and who employs a talented and smart panel of writers who are VERY tech-savvy. Everything is checked with a physicist to make sure it's correct, the writers all call each other out over ridiculous ideas, and they ground their tech in reality, and THAT is what makes the show funny and believable: it's authentic, even for the super geniuses.

Scorpion's writers don't seem to have the same funding. Their solutions are just ridiculous, and anyone with HALF their IQ will recognize it. Unfortunately, that aspect totally detracts from the show and story line, making it nearly impossible to watch the show without chuckling sadly about how stupid and unbelievable it is. I mean, if you consult with any FAA expert, you'd find that there are dozens of backups for how to get planes down with zero communications. The assumption that you'd need an expert computer hacker within 57 minutes to reboot the entire system, or 57 planes come crashing down, is just 57 ways of ludicrous.

The actors themselves seem to do a great job and are likable (although the Asian girl is really hard to understand, like she's got paper in her mouth or something...), the general story concept is great, and KMP is a great cast for the show (as is her son), but it's just too implausible to make it stick.

I will give it two more episodes, but at this point, I don't hold out much hope. Throw out your lazy writers and get talented new ones, with experts in the field, and then you will have a smart show.

Scorpion tries to get action-heavy in its final act, with the brain trust preventing an aviation disaster at LAX, and for a brief interlude, the show has a glimmer of momentum--but it's undercut by how ludicrous the whole setup is, how unnatural the dialogue is, and how impossible it feels to care what happens to any of these people.
