Excellent series. The bad reviewers probably hate Curb your Enthusiam, Seinfield, Arrrested Development, or any other show that require intelligence to understand.

Thoroughly enjoyed this new comedy the players are well-suited very unique concept. The story line and characters portrayed lends itself to many comedic situations. Putting Christopher Mash as mayor was ingenious! Best of luck on future seasons.

With all the crap going on in the world these days it's refreshing to delve into the show Schitt's Creek for some unique humour with a cast that works and fits so well together to make such a great show. I am hooked and hope it last for many seasons to come.

I came across this gem by chance while travelling overseas recently. I knew nothing about it previously. In one sitting I watched 4 episodes back to back. In one sitting I watched 4 episodes back to back. I was hooked before the first one finished. What a great quirky show - and so refreshing after being subjected to a monotone of programming that seems to have gone on for years now. Of course, there have been similar gems in that time such as Arrested Development for example - kind of 'alternative' off centre comedy, that is very easy on the senses, and leaves you smiling, satisfied and wanting more. Cast are wonderful - a delight to watch - perfect choices - with Catharine O'Hara and Eugene Levy totally one with their characters. The story line is not one they are expecting you to swallow - for those that may need to be reminded that this is a TV series, not real life - however, the premise for the story line sets the scene perfectly and is naturally secondary to what will keep you coming back for more - the delightful characters and their immersive interactions. I can honestly say that was the most enjoyable piece of TV I have seen for a very long time. Scripting is spot on and timing is great. Can't wait to find where this series is available so I can watch the complete 1st series. A definite yes for anyone who enjoys jumping out of mainstream when given the chance - and into something that has a little class and wit, and is actually genuinely funny. No fake audience laughter here telling you which parts are supposed to be funny - you'll discover those easily enough for yourself. Expand

As the series progresses, it becomes ever more humorous, but also much deeper. Characters have become far more fleshed out and real. relationships that have developed have surprising depth, most recently, David's with Patrick. Actually quite sweet. A very pleasant product from the Levys, with great acting and pacing.

This is a great show. There are times when Catherine O'Hara's acting is so transcendent that I am in awe. Not an overstatement. The parents are such pros. The kids are funny. The writing is really smart. For those who don't get subtle or indirect or abstract humor they may miss the joke, but for those who like a creative show with no hit you over the head jokes or pratfalls it will make you laugh.

Episodes are hit and miss - some are fantastic and hilarious while others are really boring. It's fun to binge though, and the show doesn't take itself too seriously.

Also, I think Daniel Levy is rather good in it.

I really didn't think that a show with the name "Schitt's Creek" could be something that I would enjoy as much as I do. I don't want that to come off as snobbish, it's just such an odd name and it gave me the impression that they were trying too hard to be funny. Well, I was wrong. I don't find many comedy sit-coms funny, especially the one's that are on tv nowadays, but I genuinely think that this is a very funny show. It's not low-brow comedy or slapstick at all, but a very well-written and acted show, which slowly makes you really love the characters, mostly for their flaws. Eugene Levy and his son Daniel are fantastic here, and so are Chris Elliott and Eugene's daughter on the show Alexis. I've got such a crush on her at the moment. Beautiful and quirky funny always get me. I think you should check this show out, and give it a few episodes before coming to any conclusions. I found that as I went along, I found everything funnier and had more of a connection to the characters. I rated this as an 8, but it's like an 8.5 in my opinion. The premise for the show has a bit of promise, but it is let down by below average writing and emotionless acting
The only shining light is Emily Hampshire who at least appears to have a heart and soul and a healthy sense of irony and sarcasm.
The show doesn't really need to have a euphemistic title. The real S**t word applies.

Schitt’s Creek isn't without its merits but for much of this first season the writing and characters are all too predictable to elicit little more than the odd chuckle. Fortunately these characters do show some signs of becoming more rounded and interesting towards the end of the season meaning that, even though there still aren’t a huge amount of truly laugh out loud moments, I hold out hope that this show can evolve into something worth sticking with…

Around the fourth or fifth episode of Schitt’s Creek, the family’s behavior starts to become a smidge less predictable: David decides to sell his pricey wardrobe; Alexis finds herself attracted to a bearded environmentalist; Johnny and Moira display genuine affection for each other. These moments signal the small-town comedy just might have room to grow.
