Sound more than a little like FX's "Rescue Me"? Absolutely.
-
Saved's ADD pace prevents any true emotion. [23 Jun 2006, p.61]
-
It's a fairly entertaining show right out of the gate, though it's distractingly busy with a gimmick: Poorly edited flashbacks pop up suddenly to show what victims were doing in the moments before they suffered health problems. This could be done well, but it's not now.
-
"Saved" is a show with a good cast, interesting concept and a fast-paced, stylized approach that never quite reaches its potential.
-
Scott's performance is totally believable, but that doesn't mean you want to ride shotgun with him in such a tired vehicle. [19 Jun 2006, p.37]
-
[Scott's] vital, star-making turn in "Saved" comes as a surprise, as it makes his earlier work seem muted by comparison.
-
So what if it's as superficial as a flesh wound? There's plenty of style.
-
Wyatt's story falls together a little too neatly.
-
[Scott's] playfulness is essential to making this show a pleasurable trifle instead of a sodden one.
-
"Saved" is a sometimes entertaining, often predictable trauma drama.
-
Given that it wants to seem edgy and quirky, "Saved" is remarkably rich in cliché... Still, it's no worse than average and has Tom Everett Scott in it, which is a nice thing for TV viewers.
-
In spite of [Scott's] fine performance, though, nothing elevates this drama about people on the verge of death and disaster into something other than ordinary.
-
The opening crises just feel phony and forced -- as does everything else, from the humor to the drama to the bleached-out colors.
-
Cliches are cliches, no matter what channel you're watching.
-
A flashy but derivative medical drama.
-
It's not atrocious, just sort of bland -- the kind of show we've watched a million times before.
-
It tries to be edgy but misses by a mile.
-
Proving it's possible to construct an entire series out of strung-together medical-show cliches, "Saved" races along a too-familiar path littered with "ER"-style crises.
